My fellow smokers...

My name is Christianiadelic (well it really is not) and I live in Copenhagen, Denmark. Denmark, of course, is renowned for the fiery vikings, the elegant designs of Arne Jacobsen and the grand fairy tales of H. C. Andersen. The greatest cultural heritage - and the true fairy tale of Denmark - is Christiania; the freetown where cannabis has been tolerated by the authorities and traded in the open for more than thirty years. If you ever get to Denmark, be sure to visit Christiania! Living a mere ten minutes by bicycle from Christiania, I am a seasoned smoker and I joined this forum to share my experiences in Christiania and to learn from your experiences as well.

... and if you don't like it, pass the blunt to the nigga on your left!

...the word 'nigger' is derived from an African word that, translated, means 'less than animal'.

generations of black Americans fought and died for the right to not be called 'nigga'.

...it's racially charged language like this that helps keep racism alive.

peace, bozo

The word 'nigger' - in it's semiotic meaning - may very well be demeaning to black people. Words, however, too have a pragmatic meaning; one that is situational and depends upon the cultural context in which it is uttered. Thus, when I bring a quote from a South Park episode that refers to the smoking of marijuana - in an online cannabis forum - and you accuse me of "keep[ing] racism alive", you're really just being a giant douchebag.

For further reading, look into 'Meaning in Interaction: an introduction to pragmatics' by Jenny Thomas.

Faithfully,

i didn't accuse you of anything homey, all i did was define the word and suggest that the continued use of it is offensive.

...which forces you to become ignorant and insulting.

have a good life, bozo

Meh.

He did a great job refuting what read like an accusation. He might have gone a little overboard with the insult, but your post DID read like something between criticism and accusation. You chose a neutral wording, but did so in a context that responded directly to and implied your discontent with the content of the original post.

Just saying.

Have a good life.

I appreciate it.

It's true, I seldom miss the chance for a good debate - though I'd rather light up a proper blunt! You really should give it a visit if you stop by again. I'd say early April and early August are the best times to visit; fine weather and lots of people enjoying their favourite blend!

I take that as a compliment. In retrospect, you might be right about the insult - but then again, I had just suffered 16 consecutive defeats in Modern Warfare...
