Hey guys,
I've mentioned I few time that I'd throw up a thread on my DIY hydro rig.
I live 100's of miles from a hydro shop so this is how I grow.
I use the tub in tub style, it used to be popular many years ago in my parts, but it seems less so today.
Its cheap, easy and very rewarding.
From your hardware store, get yourself some large rectangle, stackable tubs.
get one shallow one and one deeper one.
in the shallow one drill as many holes as you can (see pic) and clean/smooth the edges of the drilled holes.

also from your hardware shop, get yourself some plumbing parts.
next go to your pet store or aquarium and get a water pump, an aquarium heater, an air pump and air stones.

Now set-up your plumbing on the same tub that you drilled the holes in.
(Copy my pics for setting up your plumbing, or do something similar)
Now in your second tub, set up your pumps, heater and air stones, its the same principal as running a tropical fish tank, this is your res.
next place your top tub onto your res in the stackable position.
Connect your plumbing to your pump, fill your res, and fill your top tub with media, and off you go.

Notes.
for my plumbing, I run a tube from the pump in my res, up to a tap before my drippers.
The tap lets me control the drip rate.
i then have a second tap before another tube that runs back down into the res, this allows me to create even more water flow and movement in my res, but this is optional.
I also use two different size res tubs, one smaller one for early on and then I switch to the larger one when the roots have nearly filled the small one. This allows me to save on nutes and a second tub makes doing res changes a lot easier.
All in all this is a great way to grow hydro.
if you maintain ph, ppm, temps and light cycle you can't go wrong.
Any questions or feedback welcome.
cheers.
