my drying unit

Hi guys

I thought id share with you my new project of constructing a drying rack

With a pile of MDF.. so the dust cloud begins...

I constructed a 2ft wide, by 1.5 ft deep, 5 ft high unit and then stained it to give the MDF some protection.

with this done, door hung, and brass latches fitted, time to bore a couple of holes for the air circulation.

A centrifugal fan will be mounted on the side of the unit, drawing air through the hole at the top, and blowing it back in to the bottom creating great circulation.

Next to the Air intake hole i have fitted an electrical socket which will be wired to a humidistat. While the Relative humidity is above a certain percent, this socket will be live

here i have a bundle of curtain rings, wardrobe poles with end sockets, and bull dog clips.

with these assembled, 20 are put on to one 2 foot long pole, and mounted in the unit. four poles later evenly spaced:

so there you go.. thats why im up to :)

This has 80 bulldog clips ready to clip on to stems for drying.

As you can see the fan has not been fitted, nor has the carbon filter at the top of the unit which is why there is a foot gap up there.

This leaves me with two feet of space to hang the stems, and a further two feet at the bottom to house the dehumdifier

If you are familiar with my units you will know i use digital controllers for humidity and temperature. There will also be a temperature controller on this unit to keep the temperature at 20'C

Just thought id share incase anyone else is contemplating a unit :)

I noticed the longer buds sit, the better it get, so would you say it's like wine.
your right in a sense.. if you rush drying them they will be harsh... its curing afterwars which i would compare to making a fine wine.
