My Cultivator Xtreme Commercial Grow Box

I have been an avid grower for 12 years. Until recently I have lived in a house where I always had a spare closet to devote to growing. However, a new job has taken me to a different city where I had to move into a small apartment with neighbors very close by.

Because my lease is only 6 months, I didn't want to take the time to convert a closet, and the space is also extremely limited.

So, instead I opted this time to go for a commercial grow box from Homegrown Hydroponics, and I am really glad I did!

I was hesitant at first because I read a lot of users opinions on here and other forums about commercial grow boxes being no good for various reasons, but this one really stands out and so far the performance is amazing. I also got a free herb dryer with this machine, and can't wait to harvest and dry in that thing. Looks really cool!!

I started with 12 seeds from Reeferman Seed Bank from BC. After 6 weeks I plucked a few males, and let the ladies spread their wings. After about 12 weeks of growth, my plants are healthy, and growing like wild fire. Litterally at least a good 3/4-1" of growth a day!

I am hopeing to pull a little over a pound out of this first grow in the next 30-45 days. This is the first time I have grown this Big Bud Sativa strain, and so far I am very impressed with the dense, bushy growth inherit to this strain.

The nice thing about this particular grow box is that it has both HPS and MH lights going at the same time. That's 800 watts of light in this machine, and the plants are responding really well. I think the complete light spectrum is really making a noticeable difference over just red light...

Once thing I noticed is keeping the lights on 24/7 during veg rather than 18/6 seems to have sped up the growth rate in the veg phase. Then I added an extra 30 mins in the morning and 30 mins at night for the flower stage, so acutally lights are on for 13 hours a day! This little trick seems to be increaseing flowering growth pretty considerably this early on!!

I will keep a grow journal, and update this thread with progress as the plants get larger.... What do you guys think so far?

Thanks SICC. These grow boxes are new to me. Used to soil and a few lights. This setup really is clean and simple. I sort of wish I knew about this back in the day when I started out!

I have been really scared of putting down money on homegrown extreme models (Specifically the cultivator extreme PRO for $3,5000.00) mainly because of how many more seeds, ebb & flow systems, nutrients, and food to live off of I can buy hahaha! But seriously...is it worth it? The one im looking at is 1 grand more!!! I'm starting to think that your model seems to work just fine without automatic pH adjustment and dosers.

How much did everything end up costing you after shipment? Did you add any extras like air conditioning or a bat cave for fresh guano? [They have extra options at the bottom of their description online :-)]

And finaly, is your room where the system is in ventilated/window open??

Im a novice grower but I tend to ask a lot of questions :-D

by the way, I'm sure a majority of us online would completely appreciate a grow journal on this...homegrown hydroponics seems to always get negative feedback so this is a nice perspective :-)
