so guys im doing a grow box right now and im having a couple questions about the lightning. i got a couple power strips with max spec of 125v 15 A and 1,875watts while i am using some 23 real wattage cfls with 120v does that mean im allowed to use only one per power strip? or am i missing something here ive been told that they can handle a lot of them but i just dont wanna set my house on fire and wanna get some more knowledge about this

You can put a buttload of 23s on any power strip I've ever seen.

Just add up the Amperage draw and stay a few amps under 15A.

For example I just checked a 26W bulb and it draws 0.34 Amps. 10 of these would draw 3.4 amps. 30 would draw 10.2 amps, still under the 15A rating of your power strip.

any idea why? if the power strip max voltage says 125 and one 23 watt cfl is 120v how is this possible, maybe 125 power strip max voltage is per socket output? so that meaning using a light higher than 125 volts wouldnt be able to run? or maybe just using one per power strip? i wanna know how this works even though people just say to stick a bunch load of lights on it lol sorry for my stubborness

120v is normal for outlets and most American electronics. The 125v Max means don't plug it in a 240v outlet or try to rig a 240v cord to fit it because THAT will cause a fire.

Forget Voltage it means nothing concerning what you are asking. Pay attention to the total AMPERAGE draw on any one circuit. Chances are your power strip is on a line with a 15AMP breaker, which (theoretically) should trip before you get in trouble with whatever you have plugged into the power strip, due to other devices on the circuit and resistance (Ohms) of wiring and connections etc.

People keep making the mistake of comparing like wattage bulbs but they should be checking the light output. I hear the "cfl lights are cooler" crap and it's just that, crap.
Example:- 250 watts of cfl light runs cooler then 250 watts of hid light but it only takes 75 watts of hid light to get the light output of the 250 watts worth of cfl's.

Do yourself a favor and at least get a T5 fixture. At the very least, it will be much cleaner looking and easier to deal with. Spiral CFL's are bad grow lights. They are made for brightness not light distribution.

23w is low to be using for a grow. At least get some 35w and use less.
