My carbon filter isn't masking my indoor grow smell.. please help

My grow is drying right now and I went the entire time without any ventilation. I have a lot of plants in my open basement, meaning I didn't use any tents. As you can imagine, the house has wreaked and my girlfriend is pissed. We can't smell it of course, but my girlfriend's family, job, friends, etc. constantly tell her that she smells like weed. I'm sure it's everywhere in the house. I just put in a carbon filter and a fan in the basement two days ago, with the air being vented outside. It definitely took care of the smell outside (you could smell it by our back door), but it must still be in the air upstairs because today she showered, washed her hair, changed into clothes she was trying to keep safe from the smell in her car, and she was still told she smelled like weed. I should mention that when you go into the basement you can definitely still smell the weed. Is the carbon filter supposed to get rid of all of the smell?

My furnace is right by the grow and she says sometimes she can smell the funk when the heat kicks on. I'm sure the smell from the basement is being blown around the house. I just ordered an activated carbon filter for the furnace that's meant for odor control, do you think that'll work?

Also, we have two huge buckets of Ona gel upstairs. In her closet, we've had a carbon filter going (no fan or vent out without this one) and a huge thing of Ona, yet her clothes still stink.

How do we get the smell out? Do we need to wipe down literally everything? Has anyone else experienced this?

I think it would be impossible to contain your smell without first containing the area of smell.

Even if you put fans in the wall like a cattle barn it will still seep through.

Carbon filters on a tent minimize not eliminate .

You never know, someone could have a better resolve to the issue .

A filter isn't going to 100% remove the smell. It also needs to be pulling clean air into a contained room then through the filter and out. If it's just open in the basement you'd need some serious CFM movement to create the neg pressure required to not emit any smell. Not to mention that much neg pressure would pull the exhaust from your furnace into the room rather than being vented outside due to the neg pressure. You need to keep the plants in a closed off room and draw clean air into that room and filter it out. Otherwise you gona smell
And even with that in full flower mode there's still a faint smell through the exhaust

My 5x10 room is pretty sealed up and I vent outside 6" vent inline runs full blast. If i open the door to my room for too long smell gets in the house. With door closed when I come home from work it doesn't smell.

Short answer your plants need to be in a sealed room with good venting out side.

My wife wouldn't let me grow if I didnt have a sealed up space.

Do it. Maybe a tent inside a bedroom if your not handy at building a sealed room. Weed stinks it always will.

Humidity can play a role.in how well your filter is well.. filtering. Too low or high of a rh and smell gets through
Yup good point humidity and hard water in a humidifier can kill a filter.

My local grow store has sign saying no warranty on filters if you use tap water in a humidifier. I dont run one so I dont know for sure.

It’s going to take a month or so to get out, just think of your carpets, they are like a sponge when it comes to scent, takes a while.

One of the advantages of growing in a loft. It is sealed from the rest of the house and I can vent outside through the roof. The smell dissipates 30' above where anyone can smell it. TBH I don't run a filter out, I filter coming in.

My house used to be like that. Everybody said we smelled like skunks but we couldn't smell it. My gf used to get hassled at work about it. Now my weed has little smell. What kind of smelly weed are you growing?

Mine was Sour Bubble from BOG (Bushy Old Grower) and 707 Headband from Mendocino County. Sour Bubble was one of the best strains I've ever had, I might have to try to find more seeds.
