My buds seem small, and this is my first grow, what do you think?

i think they look good but i can see why you would think they are considering the colas do look small in the last picture. but still bomb, how many plants are in there?
 
They look great for a first grow. They are still a wee while a way from harvest, so just be patient and give them some time to grow.
Smell can really depend on the strain. I have noticed indica dominant strains smell a lot more that sativa (in my experience.)
 
do you think the yield will be small, I have never harvested, so I don't know if maybe it is more than what I think, or is it generally smaller than what it appears?
 
they don't really get that bud smell until they are cured, try some molasses? that usually will fatten the buds up.

I am not sure what strain they are, there are 3 of them, all at different heights, which makes setting the light distance hard. Thank you all for the feedback, it feels good to get some opinions, since it is not like I can just ask my neighbor or somebody else what they think seeing as how we have to grow secretly.
 
Since it's still got a minute before harvest, I'd say your buds look just about right, maybe try throwin some light up under the canopy so the bottom/lower nugs get hit with more direct light, that'll prolly help fatten em up a bit. Also what the snowman said.
