My Afghan Beauty

Hey guys,

So here's my thread about my first grow. I got a clone of a beautiful female Afghan indica on Oct. 16th from a good buddy. I then put her in a 4 ft. high cylinder, maybe about 2 feet wide. It's originally a NHL Display Case from McDonald's... remember those mini-sticks they had last winter? Well I was able to get ahold of it and my "drone" has been perfect for early vegging state. It's made of wood and covered with plastic on the outside, and inside I tinfoiled it completely. Amazingly, it came with a thick enough lid but not too thick that I wasn't able to cut a whole in it and hang a small fan from the top. I also ran 2 lights, which were more than enough for the size of this drone. Hydro's expensive so naturally I went with the cheaper CFL lighting sheme. I bought all Feit 23w Energy Saving 'Daylight' 1,600 lumen lights, and they've proven to be quite effective. The reason I believe this is because of the amount of growth and bushyness that I achieved once the clone started to really grow.

I researched and learned quite a bit about the Afghani strain and came up with a relative plan and how to go about growing her. I learned that she can handle rough, vigorous weather and that even a little bit more care and she'll thrive. They say that this strain can be flowered and harvested quicker than a lot of others, but knowing that she was a tougher strain due to conditions it can handle, I decided to veg her for a longer period of time to see what she's capable of doing. The results were great (so far anyways). Believe it or not, I vegged for either 94 or 95 days. I just decided that I wanted a 5ft tall beauty for my first grow, and that's achieved so far. I learned that in the past 10 years, growers have used the 24 hour light cycle and achieved explosive results, so this was definately my plan.

For the light fixtures itself; I bought 12 metres of builders wire at .49c/m, 12 light sockets with push in on/off clip and 12 plug ins. I used 2 at first and more as I went on. She was in a Folger's red plastic container for about 5 weeks and was then transplanted to a white 24L Mistral garbage can. Rocks filled the bottom about 2 inches high followed by soil that covered the whole can. The biggest pot I could find at WalMart was only 18L, so that's why I went bigger.... (I want good/beautiful pot!!!) Right around the first week of December was when I took her out of the drone and put her in my closet. I placed 4 lights in the corners of the cloest, hung 2 and had 2 sitting from the floor. This followed until Jan. 20th!!! I know lol, I really took a long time. It was worth it though. She grew to just over my chin, at about 5ft. The last 2 weeks before the 20th were fun to watch because she got more attention under the crown, and became nice and bushy. The best part is that the stem is so thick and crystally purple... woo hoo!

Now. For watering. She didn't get a single nute at all. Not once. And result has been a wonderfully, stinky powerful, and natural smell! The only thing she'll be getting at all different from when vegging is molasses. After hearing a lot of good things about it, it seems like a no-brainer.

On the 20th she began getting darkness. I went right to 16/8 because the Afghan is a tough guy and she'd be able to handle it. Responded well the first day and that stayed the same till Thursday. Gradually today and yesterday I brought the 16/8 back to 15/9 and 14/10. Tomorrow she'll see it climb to 13/11 and by Monday she'll be right into full flowering. She's been showing some white and red hairs and that's really making me excited! I think on Monday she'll start getting getting a nice, small little dosage of molasses in with the water. Dopefully (I know lol), I get some nice/big/sticky/caramalized budz!

Well there's not much more to say, other than I have 3 beautiful clones growing, with 2 of them receiving water/vanilla extract mix... but that's not for this thread!

Stay tuned guys and dolls!!!

P.S. Here's the visuals for the readables!

Hey again guys,

So I'm exactly 3 weeks into flowewring and boy does she look good! She grew another 8 inches on top of the 5 ft she got to during vegging. The stem is completely purple from 1/2 of the way up, all the way up and nice n' crystally.

I started giving her a mix of molasses and water (1 tblsp to 2 litres) from day 1 of flowering. After noticing an odd smell coming from the closet it was growing in, I immediately rollitup.org'd it and learn about possible molding. FUCK NO!!! And well, fuck no lol. It wasn't. I decided to stop feeding the molasses for 3 days and the smell was gone the next day. Pretty good sign if you ask me. So knowing it was just a weird smell, I lessened the molasses to half a tblspn and the results are much more tolerable to the nose! I finally gave in to fertz yesterday. After having some buddies encourage me to get some, I did. I looked at several stores in the city and finally came upon "Schultz Bloom Builder 10-54-10". A lot of ppl posted threads saying that this was pretty potent stuff and to bring down the amount you use in your water, so I've done just that. With a bottle of water/fert mix and water/molasses mix, I've got a nice little feeding frenzy going on! I guess I'd probably be exagerating maybe a little, but I swear I saw a difference in the size of the buds! No lie!

I've posted these pics of the 13th and 14th and will tonight take more pics when the light cycle rebegins at 8pm.

Enjoy and stay tuned and pruned!
