My 2nd grow with pics. Advice needed!

This is at about day 4 1/2 for my seedlings they sprouted sunday morning. They are autoflowering Short Rider that I ordered from nirvana. They're in FFOF with about 30% perlite. They are under a 400W HPS and the light is like 3-4 feet away(idk if I should try to get the light closer since they are only babies?) The temp is usually around 80-85% during the day and like 73-78% at night although it is summer here and very hot outside. I have 3 fans in the closet as you can see to try to get the temp down and from burning my house down haha.

I try to be around the plants as much as possible as i don't have any co2 for them can i make it with household items somehow with no gromet or w/e?

Anyways how do they look for about 4-5 days old am I doing okay? this is my second grow after my first super ghetto grow that was successful but didn't yield hardly anything as i grew with only 3 cfls, but now I have a hps but anyways any advice would be appreciated! ill keep this updated as i know ill need more help/advice laterrr.:peace:

looking good so far, i'd wait till they get a little more growth on them before moving closer.
 
dont u have a flurocent light? just open the door when ever u can and should be fine although u can make homemade C02 with vinegar and bycarb soda u can hook it up so it works as a dripper

Well I have 1 small 17w flourescent but it is not enough for all 4 or 6 including the 2 I just added in the cups.

And yeah I pretty much keep the door open all the time or whenever I can cause when its closed the temp will get up to 100 degrees or more if i leave it closed long enough but it never goes above 85 pretty much when i leave the door open.
 
if you are leaving the door open you don't need to worry about co2, co2 is best used with a sealed grow room.
 
Awesome. I have a question about wind. I have 4 fans going on, 2 oscillating. Just wondering how much wind is too much? I am asking because the oscillating fan when it rotates blows the plants a little. Is this bad? I know the wind will make the plants stem grow stronger correct? Then should this be good for an autoflowering strain? I'm also wondering because the one that seems to be blowing the most seems to be the most yellow in leaf color.? hmm...
 
there is no way of telling the sex of seeds unless the seeds are feminized. i think fdd did a thread on how to get fem seeds, look in the forums.
 
those are pretty good odds steph, one of my friends swears that a seed with a dimple in it is a fem seed.
 
haha just wondering because my friend just gave me like 40 dank seeds and I am gonna try to grow them. was gonna see if there was any way to tell
 
would a bucket of ice in front of a fan work to lower temp and raise humidity possibly lol? I need to lower the temp more and need more humidiity
 
Well here they are at 8 days old. How do they look? The plant in the red cup is a random bagseed I acquired and I realize it has stretched quite a bit, is this just because it is so far from the light?

My babies are about 10-11 days old now, they are all about 1 1/2-2 inches tall and they appear to be showing pistils already..is it possible to show sex on day 10 or am i just trippin? haha
 
your trippin, you can't see pistils yet. you should consider covering the stem with more soil, i would bury it to the leaves. the stem will grow roots after you bury it.
