I can only answer one question and that is if you should grow them tall. You wont really be able to get 4 in there very tall. If the closet is 2x1.5 thats only 3 sq ft. I think(dont quote me on this)that the max number of plants is 1 per sq foot. Im guessing that would be using the sog method. I currently have plants that are 6'-7' and each one of the has a circumfrence bigger then 3 sq ft.
ok. yeah i know im pushing it with 4 plants in that space. theyre definitely going to have to be more tall than bushy. luckily they can get reeeally tall in there.
does anyone have good ways to make a plant tall but still able to pack some bud? does it involve pruning?
also, what is this sog method i hear people mention sometimes?

lol at the wires.. I'm glad you have humor about it. You should've seen where I first put my light when I started -- 7 feet (yes.. that's feet) over the plants. Hah!!
Temp and humidity look great. Separate your plants into individual containers; never plant them together in the first place. MJ grows a massive mat of fine roots -- two plants will get tangled to shit within a couple weeks. One thing I've seen people do to max soil space is use cutoff 2-liter soda bottles as pots (with drain holes in the bottom of course). Straight up-and-down bottles max space, angled-up pots make a lot of space worthless. Get rid of the incandescents -- they're just costing you power.
How much total wattage are all your cfls? Don't know them by lumens offhand.. Keep CFL's about 2 inches from the plants; put your hand between the plant and the light -- if you can keep your hand there comfortably, it's not too hot. Don't grow your plant tall with CFLs -- you'll never be able to support the foliage underneath; start flowering at 8-12" max. Is that bare drywall in that closet? You can max your light value by coating the walls (the whole room, if you have the energy) with reflective material. Mylar, foylon are great -- flat white paint (not gloss) is cheaper and only a few percent less effective. Foil is a last resort, but better than nothing -- use the matte (not the shiny) side out.
All in all, your plants look nice and healthy and you've got a place that looks like it can hold good growing conditions. You're off.

thanks alot for the info dude..uve been the most helpful so far. where can you usually get reflective material like mylar? home hardware stores like home depot, etc.? and i should start flowrering that early eh..i was thinking even if i let them get tall i could hang cfl's at different heights along the plant so all the leaves would recieve light along the length of it..is that not a good idea? and how much bud do you think will be possible to produce if i grow 4 2-3 foot tall females in this closet? the biggest plants are in 2.5 gallon pots now. do you think maybe i should only grow 2 big females instead of 4 small ones?
oh and as for the watts i have about 160 watts not including the f-ing incandescents right now (im getting rid of the incandescents soon), but i ordered 5-6 2600 lumen big natural daylight cfls from a home hardware and i should have them within the week. thatll solve all of my wattage problems and bump me up to an awesome amount of lumens.

Sounds like you'll have good wattage in their. Dunno about how successful the taller plants would be with supplemental lighting along the length - hopefully someone with that experience will chime in. I added 40W CFL's in the understory of my plants - I was underwhelmed by the effectiveness of their penetration.
You can get mylar thru many online hydroponic shops -- just google "hydroponic" and you'll have a raft of options. Flat white paint is cheaper but, since you're already up and running, that would probably be a huge hassle. You could do what I did -- buy 1/4 plywood and cut it into panels and paint those flat white but at that point, you'll probably be just as cheap going mylar.
Don't know much about yield with CFL.. Maybe 3/4 to an oz per plant if everything goes really smoothly? You could prowl around on the CFL sub-forum in the Indoor section to see some first-hand experience on this. Good luck, man..

ok so i did a bigtime transplant late on friday night. put the biggest 4 plants in 4 new 2.5ish gallon pots, and put the smallest 3 in their own seperate pots. here are the pics of the new setup. whatdyou think?

yeah if someone with experience running CFL's down the length of the plants once they get big could let me know how that went id appreciate it. youd think itd be really effective..
and as for mylar..what exactly is mylar? is it like a sheet material that i can tape to the wall? i guess you dont paint it on eh..i really do want to avoid any painting.
you think an oz max per plant eh? that would be a little disappointing..im aiming for at least a half pound for this 1st harvest..but maybe that is aiming too high. opinions on this matter are appreciated too

i have use cfls and yes i run them down all the sides. i think that it helps your bottom of your plants and will get bettter buds on the lower part of your plant. it depends on how big you grow them what you feed them theres alot but if your aiming for a half pound with just cfls i dont think that you are going to be able to pull it off. i got almost a half pound on my first grow with two plants under 28 26 watt cfls. i am using 30 to 40 this time. i vegged for 5 weeks and she is 2 feet tall (thats with 6 cool white 26 watt cfls.) i am throwing her into flower this sunday. how many lights you plan on using??? well good luck...

im planning to use about 4-5 40 watt daylight cfls (2600 lumens), and 2-3 40 watt normal cfls (a bit of red spectrum to go along with the blue) (2600 lumens each as well
and im going to have to add more as the flowering moves along..i dont know how many cfl's i'll end up with eventually but i plan on adding them gradually along the way
in a couple days when i add some cfls i'll have about 24000 lumens in the 3 cubic feet closet..by the middle of flowering ill probbaly have about 40 000 lumens (with alot more red spectrum then during veg of course) in the 3 cubic feet closet. i think thatll be great since a bright summers day puts out 10 000 per square foot. theyyyyll be happy..

Alright brotha let me see what i can do for yah bmh.
First off what type of soil growing medium are you using. it looks like its a heavy coco with a little perlite but thats just me guessing from the pics. If this is true you might want to think about making your next transplant a little bit different soil(but if you think from your own personal use that its good for you than go right ahead) But if youd like help understanding what it is im trying to tell you than let me know and i can help you with that...its just that down the road you might run into problems with the coco or just a soil that doesnt drain that well. The coco likes to keep salt on your roots and flushing is a must and more often than normal.
Second you said you wanted them to grow up tall because you dont have outward space. If this is true and you are going to be using the cfl on the sides you could trim the sides and bottom leaves so it concentrates its growth upward and to the main cola. I would recomend just punning off leaves that aren't getting light. Ive seen lots of guys do what you do and the plants tend to keep themselves in a sea of green state to maxamize their own space.
Third you said that you would be using cfl through this process and getting more as it goes into flower. You might want to look into T5 they are similar to aquarium lighting and they produce almost as much light as hps and use the same amount of wattage as the long tubes. Problem with this is it could get more pricey and if this is just a see if i can do it for a minumum amount than go for it with the tubes, but your buds aren't going to be that great. You have some time to think about this because your plants have a little ways to go before flowering stage.
Fourth you wanted to know when to flower. This is all up to you i recomend at about 8 to 9 inch the plant might start to show signs of sex and it is at this point you will want to flower( usually about 4-5 weeks from planting if you are lucky) sometimes its about 12 inch but dont let it go much further than that or you will be regretting it later with your space issues.
All and all they look good so far, enough light to get them through the veg stage, but if I were you (because i once was) id be looking into the bbd(bigger better deal). When i had a space that size i went out and got a 150 hps and still used like 4 28watt cfl with the daylight (1800)lumens a peice and the 150 puttin out 16,000 lumens. It did the trick and wasnt hefty on the ol bill.
