Well this is my first grow and my friend gave me 3 crip seeds so i planted them in miracle grow soil and put them under a regular white light about 8-12 inches from the light. Anyway after two days they sprouted equally up an inch out of the dirt and have steadily grown since. It has been about a week since they sprouted and they are about 5-6 inches tall. Just today i noticed that the leaves are starting to wither. they are still the same color but they look like they are not getting enough water. Also they are not droopy. I have been watering when needed except in the beginning when i watered them every day. I really need help on what to do to fix this and also can someone please tell me what is causing it? Thanks.

My friend, your pictures tell a thousand words. If your serious about your babies growing right, you need more than just "a regular light". There are tonnes of options out there if your looking to do it without spending a lot. Your last picture shows by it's growth, that it's starved for proper lighting. Secondly, that soil, looks DRENCHED!.......don't water them any more for a while....Let the dirt on top go crusty and the dirt underneith get damp to almost dry before you water again. A quick temporary fix for your lighting situation, is get that REGULAR bulb out of there, and go out and buy A Compact florescent (CFL) Spiral Light. And look for one that is 42W if you can with a Color temp of 6500K. They usually call these "Daylight" OR you could use a lesser watt one like a 26W same colour temp. Philips makes them and GE makes them....some other brands too. Home Depot sells em. And put them like 2" from the tops of those plants. This will help them NOT to grow so spindly, and make your leaves grow bigger. while you figure out your more perminant light setup. Ya NEEED more light.....And a reflector to maximise it. AND you gotta make sure their dark cycles are COMPLETELY DARK. And Yea the fertalizers were added way to early.....If your plants can survive till the next watering.....flush out the soil with some pure water....no nutes. Read through these forums, it will teach you SOOOOO MUCH. Good luck. Check out my Grow journal if you want some ideas.

umm also...i read that you can have only one plant in a container at a time....so i just seperated them

Also, if those stocks don't thicken up, and you get more leaf mass on top those are just going to fold right over from the weight, find a fan to get a light breeze blowing on them. Just enough to make them wiggle a bit.

How tangeled were the roots and how much damage did you do to them? If these plants end up making it, it'll be an amazingly strong plant.

lol i change the light to a spiral day light bulb..im pretty sure its flourescent but despite my idiotic move to water them after transplanting their actually looking better! After i moved them i had to use dirt to help them stand up straight but now they are doing it all by themselves..also since i moved the light closer, some of the withering has filled out. I also turned my ceiling fan on high so air is traveling to them, wiggling them a bit. i will see how they are doing tomorow. but i have one more question: should i continue to maintain my 18/6 light cycle or should i give them more light temporarily since they are lacking it and because of the transplant?

o and the roots were not that developed yet so they were barely tangled. fairly easy to seperate although i did tear some i think when i was digging.

Right on, that's good. And watering after transplant is good. NOW watch your watering cycle, and it's ok for the soil to dry up a bit. The roots need oxygen so they dont get root rot. Thats why haveing stuff like Pearlite in your soil help with airation and drainage. But now your gotta get a few more of those CFL lights specifically 6500K colour spectrum. And the higher the wattage and Lumen output the better. It contains Adaquet blue spectrum necessary for plants to vegitate. And leaving your 18/6 light cycle will be just fine.

Now you just gotta give them more light and let them recover. It could set you back a bit. I read that the basic necessity for good growth is being able to provide 3000 lumans per square foot. That would equal out to 1 CFL light rated at 45watts. CFL light loses its effectiveness the farther away from the plant it is, with significent drops beyond 8"away. For this reason you will want to try and keep your lights 2" - 3" away from the plants as they grow. And having the reflector helps to spread the light out over a wider area. Also a good Idea.

Here's some pics of my first grow. First pic is the grow closet with my home made reflector, and 4, 45 watt CFL lights. @ are 2700k colour temp.(redder spectrum) and 2 are 6500K. (bluer spectrum) The plant uses blue to vegitate, and red to flower. These plants are about 15 days old in PIC1. By 25 days they looked like pic 3. Pic 2 is the plants in the grow room as we read. notice how close the lights are.
