Murphy's Law

In short, it is the hubristic belief that humans can fully control the world around them. Often, the unintended consequences of an action are more impactful than the the intended. Sometimes, those consequences are perversely contrary. Some are serendipitous.

As an obvious example, the prohibition of alcohol had devastating social impacts on the US as well as economic, which are correctly considered connected. In addition to resulting in greater consumption of (albeit illegal) alcohol, it gave unfettered control of this now illegal market to the hands of gangsters, unscrupulous in regard to the profit they obtained by bootlegging. In fact, tax revenue was down as well, which was counter to what the government had expected.

A central argument in the legalization of cannabis has also followed this arc closely.

Climate change is another catastrophic and tragic reminder that our efforts to change the world in ways beneficial to ourselves have resulted in the greatest threat to our civilization.

Now we have apparently accepted, with no demand for proof, that keeping billions of humans under house arrest will forstall a pandemic and it is causing a famine.

That has nothing to do with Murphy's Law

Are you rekt?
Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. This done been gone wrong.

Luckily, they're already trying to reopen the economy and will have to accept that people are going to continue getting sick. They continued getting sick anyway.

It has everything to do with Murphy's law.

Musk wants to terraform Mars. We are terraforming earth as I type. As the Indian electrophysiologist told me, humans think they are god. Hilarious.

How Murphy's law applies to this situation is what Murphy's law actually says, "Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong". First the Chinese screwed up, then Trump screwed up and the WHO screwed up too, Trump's failures though are not the fault of the WHO. Accidents and disasters are often the result of a chain of events and screw ups and not often assigned to a single cause, except in the case of America and Trump. Most other countries broke the chain of causality by taking proper action, but with this pandemic and the nature of the contagion, there is very little margin for errors and those errors will be paid for in thousands of lives and economic catastrophe. Unemployment in America is expected to be well over 50% by this fall. Trump continues to contribute to the disaster by not preparing the response and impeding the economic recovery.

It does not matter if their lives are threatened and their future is destroyed, just as long as they they git them thar brown folks and trigger the libs, that's all that counts, ya just have to have your priorities straight, Donald before yourself, your children and country. During the final days of the third reich, the trains still rolled to the death camps, taking priority over troops and ammunition as their world collapsed around them. Hate leads to mindless self destruction and it will in America, by the time Trump and the republicans are done, there will be nothing left. Over 50% unemployment in a few months and there's nothing that can be done about it either, even if Trump died today and was replaced by an actual stable genius.

Yep, America did the same thing with a sky high dollar and control of the world economic system, that control is slipping away along with the economy. What's next, the loss of reserve currency statues, then you'll see a disaster, as better managed counties pull ahead of America economically by recovering quicker. One bad president can be fatal, too much power in one person's hands and too much dependence on the character of that person. Murphy's law waiting to happen, though the Dilbert principle seems to apply to Trump.

Channeling Capt. Obvious to message the Oblivious here....

Most people don't grow their own food. Most people use money to buy food. Most people work or worked somewhere to obtain money to buy food.

For many if you can't work, and you keep buying food you run out of money, then you either don't eat or somebody else has to buy or subsidize your food. (Can you say "stimulus package")

If somebody else is subsidizing your food*, you are dependent. If you are dependent, you are not independent.

If you are not independent, you are controllable. That's the endgame....CONTROL. Game, set, match.

Freedom is the thing that can alter that course.

* Sudsidized with inflationary debt money that lessens the value of your present money and property etc and is being used to create a more dependent populace. By design.

Iranian Navy Temporarily Seizes Vessel, Sparking Persian Gulf Alert
Armed men boarded the ship and redirected it into Iranian waters
April 14, 2020
Iranian naval forces seized a Hong Kong-flagged tanker and redirected the vessel into Iranian waters before releasing it, according to Western and Emirati officials, prompting a warning Tuesday to ships along the Persian Gulf’s key oil export route.

The alert comes amid mounting Iranian assertiveness along the key oil export route, say Western security officials, and as broader regional tensions simmer between Tehran and Saudi Arabia as well as Western powers.
