Moving out stretch

Hey everyone! A lil background first, I've grown twice before with no knowledge of the ins and out of MJ. This year I buckled down and got serious. Ive been reading here and other places over the past year. I'm growing a few different strains, thc bomb, White Russian, Frisian dew and a few freebies from royal queen. Seeds cracked about 5 weeks ago in solo cups under 4 32w fluorescent lights. Last week I repotted, topped and moved them to the great outdoors. They all look really healthy, were around 5 nodes and 5"-8" tall. Now one week of being outside with plenty of light ( overcast some days ) they still look very healthy. The main stem has probably tripled in girth! My concern is they have stretched WAY out, one of them is now about 2 feet tall! I'm not worried about final height but is that normal? Will it affect yield positivelyor negatively? The new shoots haven't really started to grow much yet, not sure why? I haven't been able to find any info on this anywhere. If anybody has experience with plants doing this and what the outcome was that would be great!

Mine are doing the same thing, they did it last year too. I'm growing out Frisian dew and purple maroc.

I'd say its normal. They turned out fine last year

Thanks Blackva, what kind of yield did you get? I know the seed sites probably hype them up a bit. My FD are the biggest ones so far. TWS no they still have the small beginning of branches ( leaves ) on each node but no signs of anything else. I'm going back to water/feed tomorrow and I'll post an update.

I ended up topping twice using "uncle bens" topping technique the first time. Average yield was between 6-8 oz. grown in 5 gallon pails.

The stretch is strange though... At first you think it's flowering, but no pistils show. The stem thickens after the first cotyledons and the nodes stretch quite noticeably. Once they get used to the sun they start to even up, especially after topping. Mine were vegged under led lights on 14-10 for a month before being thrown outdoors.

Did you transplant your girls at all? What size pot are they in? If they haven't been transplanted maybe filling soil up to the membrane leaves will give the plant more support and offer even more root growth since roots will begin to shoot out of the stem that is buried.

I have been growing outdoor for years it's very unpredictable. Stretching using means is looking for light. It may also start to flower but should Reveg.
In my experience early stretching doesn't really affect the yield, you may want to consider Lollipoping. Are they in pots or are they buried?

I had the same problem this year.

This is a handy website to make sure you're getting adequate amount of sunlight.

Thanks for all the input guys! I went back and checked them yesterday and it looks like the great stretch is over! All of the new limbs are starting to grow nicely, most are about 3" long. Some of the bottom limbs are much longer. Chief,I did repot from solo cups to 2gal pots a little over a week ago. When I did that I buried them up to the first leaves. I'll be moving them from pots straight to the ground in another week or two. I think they're getting plenty of light, from about 8:30am to 5:00pm (as much as they can get without being spotted anyway). I think Blackva is correct that its normal for the Frisian Dew. The others aren't anywhere near that size, the THC Bomb are maybe half as tall. Going from 24hr light to normal daylight hours may have made it a little worse than usual. All in all they are looking really healthy :). Again thanks to everyone for the input and advice, great site!

Looks like you have everything planned out correctly. It's good that you are observing outdoor activity and the sun patterns. Your plants are getting a great amount of light.

How many hours of light did you have them on when they were inside?

sounds like you need to rig up some supp lighting outside to stay on a few hours after sunset so you can get them before they really start to flower(why they are stretching so much) if not you may suffer reveg during summer.

18 6 thats why im confused. they showed pistols as soon as they went out
18/6 can cause flowering if the difference in outside light is too drastic. Idk where you reside, but where I'm at (42 latitude) we're barely getting 14.5 hours of daylight. Supplemental light can help bring them out of it. That or just let them ride it out.

they are like a month into flower now. do you think they will reveg as the days get longer or just keep flowering?
