Move from 600 - 1000

My birthday was great and I just got what could be the best gift for my grow room. A close friend went and bought me a new 1000 watt Budget Gro II switchable ballast, 6" Yeild Master II reflector and 1 HPS bulb & 1 MH Bulb. "It's about to go down!" Now all I have to do is find someone that wants to trade some T5 lights and/or a grow tent for my 600 watt switchable setup. Here are the pictures of my new baby.

Nice expect a spike in your electrical Bill. I love 600 watters they are the most efficient hid light. 2 600 watters is cheaper slightly than a single 1000 watt fixture and with the 600 watters cover more area. Mine are air cooled so I can drop the fixtures lower and can get the same amount of lumens that a 1000 watt can put out.

So are you saying I should stick to the 600?
no I wouldn't, 2 light means, more shit can go wrong, plus now you would need two light.

If you don't grow a lot, but have like 1 or 6 plants, then do the 1000w, and keep the 600w for back up, and veg.

I'm running 1600w right now.Was going to do a 1200w grow, but can't give up my 1000w, and 600w are the shit's to have too for flower or veg.Like I said keep your 600w

Not following you and I think it may be due to the typos?....

600s r great lights, they are more effective but if u have a bigger space run the 1000.. Do not sell the 600 unless you are dead set on not looking back at it. Me personally I would keep both.

nobody mentioned?

2 @ 600w = 11 to 12 amp draw

1 @ 1000w = 9 to 10 amp draw

1 @ 600w = 5 to 6 amp draw (here's the only advantage i see)

i've run both. & nothing compares to a 1000y.
a 600y , while using less energy, is my back up.

and, whoever mentioned more shit to go wrong is 100% on point.

and, whoever noted a 600y outperforms a 1000y ...not even accurate.

one ballast vs two
one bulb vs two

1000y is gonna give better results at the cost of more electric & extra heat.

So then am I wrong for wanting to sell my 600 and pick up a tent and some T5's? I only wanted to run that 1000 for flowering but I have both bulbs for both cycles and so far a lot of people are saying to keep the 600 but then some say go with the 1000. I guess it would help more if you understood what my plan/goal is.

I have a few seeds left in my collection and once those are done I want to grow from nothing but clones. The seed are as follow, “Pineapple Chunk” (Fem), “Dinafem Diesel” (Fem), “Blue Ribbon” (Bag seed). I want to get one strain and stick with it. I want to have a tent that will be the flower room and one tent for my mother and clones.

But what I don’t know or I should say is where I get stuck is that I have a Metal Halide for vegging and of course the HPS for flowering with the 1000 watt and only the HPS 600 watt, so what is one to do? I don’t want to use the 600 watt for veging due to trying to keep a low electric cost and I know that T5’s are better for cloning and vegging they say. So really everyone, please help me because I really don’t know what to do… O and I will be using "WaterFarms" and my scrog screen for my next system and there on.

I say 1000w

As a grower you need a back up light, just encase the 1000w stopped working.''It does happen''

Think about it, you got a nice grow going with a 1000w, then 4 weeks in to bloom, the Fucken ballast stops working and you have no cash to fix it that day, or don't know how to fix it, or you're really fucked, because you have to ship it out to get fixed???

i am.

used a 600y for two years straight. 1/2 that time on a light mover... which has pro/cons.
would have been 10x easier to fix a 1000y and skip the mover (which i still have , track, motor, and all).

ever since i switched to a 1000y in the new lab (one year now using it) the results arent comparable.

oddly, i use two @ 400 (mh & hps) over my last tray... 800w of dual spectrum... im considering adding my 600y here.

long as you can control the heat, considering im a small commercial op, i'd never opt for anything but a 1000y.
im happy to have a 600y... its a good light... while my 1000w ballast was down throwing it into play keeps the flow going.
