Hey just wondering about starting out in these small plastic dixie cups normally used for brushing your teeth with if they were too small to transfer directly into 3 gallon smart pots?

Just only use about half a cup soil , once they sprout and stretch fill soil to top and then transfer once the foliage fills in
I use them all the time but my next stage is beer cup

I start with the 16oz beer cup with 3 holes around the edge for drainage...less hassle, less watering, more room for early root development. Once the roots come through the drainage holes and start swirling around the bottom/outer cup, it's time for transplant. Just 1 transplant into their final container, 7 gallon square pots. Less transplants, less possibilty for human error, less stress for all involved.

Start in 12-16 oz cups and only transfer when it starts getting root bound. Risk damaging roots otherwise
