Mothers/plants ratio

I was wondering How many mothers a person would need & @ what size would they need to be to supply x number of plants every 4 weeks/1 month.

Does such an equation exist? if not can i get some educated guesses or hear what everyone is getting out of their own mothers.

To be more specific I'm wondering how many mothers i would need to supply 20 clones, all @ the same time every 4 weeks? So, how many mothers & how big? what woudl i need lightwise to support them in veg?

It depends on your veg room. If your mom's are under 100W CFLs versus 150W MH the plants will grow at different rates. 20 plants every 4 weeks is a lot of plants. are you planning on running a continuous operation?

yes, planning on harvesting every 4 weeks. 2 flowering chambers so i'm thinkink flower for 8 weeks (staggered 4 weeks apart). every harvest fill flower chamber w/ 20 already vegged plants. So 20 clones every 4 weeks. 20 plants harvested every 4 weeks. Just curious how this would work out & how many mothers & of what size would be needed to accomplish this?

I just took 50, 8-12 inch clones off of 7 mothers that were vegged for 1 month from clone, under 1000w HPS for the first 3 weeks, they are just sitting under 150w cfl now to save on power, they grew to 2 ft in the month of veg, I could still get another 30 6inch clones, and I threw away at least 30 when I cut the 50 lastnight.

Theres Way to many variables to give you an estimate of what your strain and setup will produce, but if I was you I would keep at least 6 mothers, I would start new mothers every crop as well, so total I would keep 6 that are ready to cut soon, and 6 to replace the mothers that get butchered for clones.
Depending on how many you take you could keep the same mothers for 2-3 crops.

I use 4 x 24" T5s to veg my mothers. I can get 6 to 8 cuttings every 3 to 4 weeks. I am sure if I used my 400W MH with a stronger nutrient solution I could yield many more.

There really is not a specific equation. But with the plan you are trying to implement i would have at least 4 mothers to support the number of clones you would want to take every four weeks. At least with 4 mothers you could have variety if you wanted and the important thing you can rotate the mothers you wish to clone so to give time for a mother you have cloned to regenrate itself prior to taking clones from her again. In the past the most I have cloned on a monthly basis was for several people and I was averaging around 90 clones from 5 mothers and none died nor experienced too much shock. Just be sure to start cloning from a mother plant that is around 2 months old.
