could someone please tell me...taking a clone from a clone from a clone...etc...etc....how long can that go on for? my motherplant...the clones I am trying to grow from it,will not take root...the first few clones did ok..but not anymore...Now..the motherplant is ofcourse also a clone...of a clone...etc..etc..can they eventually run out of steam? I have been growing for about 4 years, taking clones, turning one into a motherplant for a while, then using another clone to grow into another motherplant. Can that go on indefinetly? or not? Please someone put me out of my misery,as I am at my wits end.

You may be right, that older mother lines are harder to root. I guess that I've found that, too, but the cuttings just take longer to root, they still root eventually.

I would say that the health of the mother plant is more the cause, than the age of the line. Sometimes if there is an abundance of nitrogen in the mother, then the cuttings won't root as easily, and stuff like that.

My oldest line now is Northern Lights #5. I germed the seed in '98, and I've taken 1000's of cuttings from the successive mothers.

I havent heard of anyone hanging on to it for more than about a year. And you're on year 4? it's time for a change bro. Im sure you could keep going on and on for who knows how long.. but for quality purposes, nothing more than about a year.
