Most breeders are a rip off.

the sweet haze x (C99 x A11) should be even better than my first generic haze, fruity booty 1.0

I'm with you, I come up with crazy ideas for strains all of the time and even name 'em.. I haven't created anything too original yet though, hahaha.

I take that back-not most are a rip off, many of them are legit badasses... but the ones that are shay- are REALLY shady. Like black and white, the new Humboldt Seed Organisation seems VERY shady. Check out their Blueberry X White Widow: http://humboldtseeds.co.uk/bww.html then check out dinafem blue widow..not to hard to see since they have the same genetics, but then look at the whole 5 strains they have listed; not a single one of those strains are listed for sale ....Also, in the beginning I thought the were a "collective" group of "breeders in southern california, as they say on the 'Tude.. their site says they are base din the United Kingdom (lol, a far cry from Humboldt, CA.) http://humboldtseeds.co.uk/about.html. You just have to be careful and do some research before you mess with new breeders/breeders without established reputations. Many of them are breeding F2 hybrids they get from ordering higher quality seeds from other breeders, that's nothing you couldn't do at home, quite simply. Anything being sold should get you high, if it doesn't then you shouldn't be buying it. I question new or generic-looking breeders such as Black Skull Seeds, Humboldt Seed Organisation, etc. I'm not just picking on the more affordable breeders, I've found stuff I like in G13 packs, Nirvana packs, etc. but I like my higher quality stuff better-not always, but most of the time.
I have the BLUE WIDDOW from dinafem ill start a post on it until i have enough pictures/updates to put all at once.:bigjoint:

Hazey, you've mentioned to me before that C99 would be a lot of faster than Kali Mist and is very similar. I still didn't make a decision on what I will be putting in come January. Is the Cindy from Female Seeds the real thing?

female seeds cindy is considered a step below mosca's which was bred for the "potent pineapple" pheno and that can even get trippy or stony depending on your pheno. my C99s were joey weeds' haze fruit leaning gals with the textbook "clear headed energetic" buzz that original cindy had. i don't have any personal experience with female seeds' version to give you a definite answer, but keyword search it. it has been talked about.

personally, C99 & even happier kali mist aren't my favorite buzzes. that's probably because i look for sensory heightening trippy buzzes with more energy neutral profiles like the columbian gold i started out on. i like when you cansit back and trip out on tunes or watch movies that "look 3D" because of sensory effects. JW cindy and especially kali mist are too racy to sit still on. i've chosen to move on from C99 except for breeding faster flowering out of slower strains without adding afghani stink or stone. i'd go for mellower but trippier apollo 11 before cindy unless you already have stony gear in your room or want to breed for getting high quickly.

cinderella IS definitely more fun than typical stoney street weed, but hybrids, even stonier ones (i hate getting stoned mind you) are much funner on a 24/7 basis. TGA's 9 week jack's cleaner 2 is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY funner than cindy! it has a stony body thump that's still functional, does REAL visuals like imagining invisible tye dye ripples of color emenating from where you touch your skin with a distinctive touchy feely aspect that makes you want to touch yourself and be touched... talk about date magic! the euphoria is nice too. THAT is kind of what i was hoping for from 1 dimensional C99. i'd only grow that for activities.

i like HQS haze x skunk, sweet haze, 8 miles high and even generic hazes more than cindy. i'd expect to like the third dimension and sannies' jack f7 more too as well as killing fields and jack the ripper too. those all have motivational buzzes with that twist of psychoavity that makes everything seem "more real" to laugh your ass off funny. the buzzes are more complex.

ESPECIALLY for motivation, high quality seeds' haze skunk is no joke! it has a light stony edge that makes your eyelids heavy, but even after a month, that's as bad as it gets where even columbian gold would turn stony. it's not quite as trippy, but it's more potent, possibly more euphoric and possibly longer lasting. i noticed i still had a light high the 1st time i blazed it, and eventuially got a 24/7 permabuzz. specifically to it's motivation, it helped me stop drinking a 6 pack of red dog every night just like that because it was so much more fun AND i even lost about 10 pounds in a month by just ignoring hunger pangs and staying focussed. i intend to do a shootout between haze skunk, sweet haze, jack's cleaner 2 and even malawi gold to compare psychoactivity levels under the same circumstances as my 1st grow was halide and my second sodium. halide is better for flavor as well as sativa doms... just as dj shorts.

i'd call C99 a breeder only. a trippier jack herer or probably even stonier super silver haze will offer you more fun more often. C99 is just about keeping busy... not something you want to do all of the time. most of the fun of getting high to me is chilling on tunes or movies and having the reality upped. C99 doesn't like to sit still and JW's at least is clear headed anyways so all you get is energy and euphoria. psychoactivity is where all the real fun is.

john sinclair's sativa trans love is supposed to be a slower 70-75 day strain, but it is a budding monster! it left my own C99bx and pretty much everything else in the dust for budding! only my little autoflowering masterkush made as much bud as fast. i'd rather grow that than C99, especially if you want to harvest early. it's a compact strain that just about stops stretching in it's tracks as soon as you flip it. it has a lightly psychoactive generic haze buzz that's funner than C99 and a more fruity flavor. the difference between that and JW C99 isn't as dramatic as it is JC2, but it's enough to make movies and music more interesting at least.

i'd just hate for you to be as disappointed as i was with cindy. i like it, but only for activities... too specific. i was hoping for more of a trippy buzz. the first time i got that was with my next grow an 8 miles high. THAT is a fun strain! energy neutral, sensory heightening, plenty of euphoria and precise body control... very classy and totally 24/7 wake and bake to fall asleep.

Humboldt Local here
Humboldt Seed Organization is not from around here
nor are their genetics
there are a few local underground breeders here with some very quality genetics

I've noticed (maybe just me) but the seeds I get from EU are nowhere near as healthy or vigorous as the ones I've acquired on the west coast, both in looks and in germination health.

breeders make great genetic available to the mass, they make new cross using good genetic and they stabilize it. I always thought genetic was very cheap, you can get GREAT seed for less than 10$ and you can duplicate indefinitely ... if they are such a rip-off, dont buy from them but they allowed me to make high quality seeds for myself.

its not as much the price that people accuse them of as it is the stability of the strain in comparison to how much they paid, hermies can really piss some people off especially when they just got fucked by the cali connection or doggie nutts for 10-40 bucks a seed(if your payin that much you better be pullin a pound off every one of those gals, take a shit load of clones too) . ill stick with sannie, 3-6 bucks a seed is cheap as hell imo, if you get any cheaper than that itll probably be unstable but im sure theres some pretty cheap seeds out there that are underrated due to all these big companies takin over.

it's not all the breeders fault. the consumer is asking for f1's for more diversity, thats what the're getting. if consumer would stop buying them, they would have to work the line more to stabilize or trash it.

well of course not, your gettin what you paid for and if it did say F1 you sort of got yourself into that, luckily some breeders are nice enough to list the phenos and their probability. if we all boycotted KC brains maybe he'll step his game up lol dont see it happening anytime soon though.

how is attitude when it comes to have pure genetics? they dont sell durban poison for a better part of the year in regular and now they just got them either in or grew them. im considering all possibilities but need to know if they breed from dutch passion to they follow strict practices? dp is 100% hybridized from the company direct, but going threw attitude(usa) will it still be the same? along with any other strain they have do they mix genetics or do they keep things tight nit?

like i said in your durban thread, high quality seeds' durban is your best bet on the cheap and sensi seeds is probably best if you absolutely want the best and are willing to pay for it. dutch passion and seedsman are 2 of the last places i'd get beans from (after KC brains & vancouver island anyways). if you get holy smokes mozambique poison, you can get 3 x 2 other freebies too and from what i've seen so far, their quality isn't shabby. the flavor's just a little different, that's probably why it's mozambique and not durban... more spice than candy.

i liked what i saw at least 30 days into flowering from my holy smokes' malawi for sure. it was way more co-operative than highland thai, though not quite trippy yet, but better than generic haze for sure. i'm going to be growing it soon and using it as my primary male to knock up some jack's cleaner 2, sweet haze, haze x skunk, CH9 jack (if it doesn't hermie), buddha's sister (sour cherry haze? yum!), NL5 columbian, compact sativa trans-love and some of the C99 and C99xA11 crosses i've made with it.

in theory, it might become my new favorite strain, but it's gotta earn it like everything else. i had a male that i cut down, but their mozambique poison's leaf was decent for leaf and had a similar licorice taste to durban, but more anise/basil and spice than candy. they have great prices anbd do their own freebies. they're doing the 2 each malawi/mozambique/mulanje sativa offer again now. i think they alternate between that and indicas each month. i've seen it come and go 3-4 times. that's the same one i got with my malawi. i just hope i get a lot of lemon pheno.

I just grew Burmese from Vancouver Seed Company, and other than not being a big feeder as in easily burning.... they grew great and made awesome bud, come check out my videos from last summer and see for yourself.

i don't know if i'd quite use the term "ripoff". sure, some breeders have better gear than others, but other than getting totally useless burmese from vancouver island as well as slow starting mutant super lemon haze in a GHS freebie that other strains matched and faster at that, almost every strain that i've tried that was supposed to get me high did.

the best thing to do is just look for breeders with reps for better quality control and/or honest product descriptions. mandala tells it like it is with his gear. TGA totally lived up to his rep with my current favorite strain jack's cleaner 2 and all 3 DNA strains i've tried have been clearly superior in total quality with their sweet haze being no worse than my second favorite.

breeders that suck will get rants and people will learn to avoid them.

i do think that there's is SOME degree of shadiness though like breeders that call their shit amnesia haze without using any strains in real amnesia and haze in general has no meaning as it's borrowed way too much in strains that aren't actual haze crosses.

i feel pretty safe with sannies' jack f7 on my to do list. when EVERYONE raves about a breeder, they're a safe bet. the same goes for rants... i haven't heard anything more favorable than "his gear's getting better" regarding KC brains where there used to be seriously pissed off rants about 0% viability years ago.

best thing to do is find strains that sound the most interesting to you, then looking for reports on them or at least the breeder unless you're in the mood to gamble.

as to white widow, at least SOME of that comes from a cutting another breeder stole off a widow plant at a cannabis cup. THAT is pretty schwaggy to do when you can't even buy seeds from your competitors honestly.

OK, you were talking more about naming than breeding. yeah, i totally agree with on that count. people steal names for the brand name recognition which DOES impact sales. i was always reluctant to try TGA precisely because he names his own crosses and his strains aren't exactly household names like white widow.

making your own names up and listing pedigrees should be the industry standard. i could see lazier breeders not wanting their gear to have it's own name so they can hide in the shadows of better gear.

mosca has a nice C99 cross they've at least added a BX too just as sannies calls his jack f7. if you have the chops and put the work into your gear to get top quality, you shouldn't have anything to hide.

All this has contributed to why I try to research strains, find out who started it all and buy from those companies..the old school guys...I have had great success with Serious Seeds, Reserva Privada and TH
Seeds, I hope to grow out my Sensi Seeds, Mr. Nice Seed Company and DJ Short Seeds soon. Anyone interested can follow my vids. Stay tuned, next year ought to be a blast!

Getting some awesome replies here. I have since changed my perspective, I wish I had not titled it "MOST breeders are a rip-off" because there's many good quality breeders out there as well. I do not believe (at all) that a strain must be new to be great; I was mostly pissed off about breeders who sell their own "version" of classic strains that contain completely different genetics than the strain they claim it is. It makes no sense that they'd want to sell "imitations" to ride the glory of a classic/famous strain because usually- if you want a legendary strain then you're most likely going to get it from the breeder whom you believe to have originally released said strain.

I would also like to throw out an honorable mention to breeders I've been happy with (even though some of them are guilty of these 'crimes' as well):
*Serious Seeds (serious quality)
*Emerald Triangle (some good stuff from those guys)
*Reserva Privada (real connoisseur stuff)
*DNA Genetics (trendy, but good nonetheless)
*TH Seeds (creators of several legends: MK Ultra, etc.)
*World of Seeds (these guys are really good. they also sell good landraces)
*Gage Green (some of the most exotic stuff out there)

There are more but these have been some of the most reliable for me.

Attitude is not a breeder or grower of seeds, they are a clearinghouse for many of the seed companies. I have bought many seeds from them. They are always original packages from seed breeders and I have had 50/50 success with those companies seed stocks. I don't believe attitude had anything to do with that quality difference.

how is attitude when it comes to have pure genetics? they dont sell durban poison for a better part of the year in regular and now they just got them either in or grew them. im considering all possibilities but need to know if they breed from dutch passion to they follow strict practices? dp is 100% hybridized from the company direct, but going threw attitude(usa) will it still be the same? along with any other strain they have do they mix genetics or do they keep things tight nit?

glad to hear you had better luck than me, but for $70 or more with shipping and absolutely NOTHING to show for it, VISC & kindseed are permanently on my fuckoff list, and i did email kindseed about it and got nothing for my trouble. it was one of the worst buying experiences i ever had after an entire $100+ order from doc that never arrived which included several nirvanastrains i was overpaying for because i liked doc's FORMERLY superior customer service more than gypsy's bare bones service with 2x 0% SADP skunk freebies. doc & kindseed are on my never again list now, but glad to hear SOMEONE has had luck with burmese. as about the most compact "trippy real sativa", it was at the top of my list when i bought a pack. i had dreams or breeding it with lemony malawi and cali-o to make an orange flavored haze.
