Monster-cropping 101

cool, please update once theyre growen up and deep in flower.
Would be good to see how that developed.

My monsters doin ok, day 27 or so, suffer a little but guess they will do it.
The monsters itself give a great structure and tons of buds.

Since you asked... I harvested a plant tonight and I'm coffeed up, here ya go.
The outside one is still kicking. Heat near 100 for a few weeks, thunderstorms every other day, still green. A little bug eaten, but just on the old leaves.Not thriving, but not dying either. some new shoots. I think I got a pic of a ginormous mosquito...

The un-topped one finally got shoots long enough to train - I figured she would with the stretch (kind of why I flipped them) so she is a semi-4-top now (center). I'll wait until I see pistils on the tops before I snip any more upper shoots. I still prune away any little ones on the trunks, just not the ones getting ready to flower. After the pistils I'll ditch any future-larf.

The plant on the right is the deceased one now
This is the "lefty" clone that just had one side of the top grow well. She's fanning out nice on her own, so I'm just letting her go wild.
I'll be rearranging to get all the clones in this room, but probably not until the left one is done.

Did someone on here say they were familiar with Northern Lights? These girls mother is finally cured, and it is good smoke!

Stayed real dark green, really resinous and slow burning, but it's the taste and smell that's tripping me out.

MINT? It has a smell when you open the tin like Skoal. Minty with an earthy undertone that's similar to tobacco.
Ground it loses the earthiness, and has a sour/minty smell. Not like chewing-gum mint. Like "I'm gonna make a mojito" fresh mint.
It tastes similar and has almost a menthol taste on the exhale.

Is this normal, or what I've been feeding them???

nice monster clone grow goin on, i guess we will see how they will fill the room in a few weeks.

I just had a NL&Bigbud years a go and was impressed, but thats long ago, looks you made something right there whatever you feed them, haha.

Pre-flowers popping

Did the final pruning. Since I had already selected the 'keeper' tops, I pruned lower shoots on each

And to concentrate growth at the tops, I removed any sprout with a stem bigger than this - basically if it was big enough to get my scissors around, I snipped it. There are 2-4 left below each top.

By the end I hope to have to support the weight of the limbs because of the ginormous tops

Really taking off, over a foot tall now, some pushing 2 feet.

And the seventh dwarf is still kicking too. I have until August 27 before I hit 12/12 outside so this could produce if it survives.

Looks great! What strains are those?

thanks man, those are RQS Bubble Kush, i like em.
They smell n taste awesome and are pretty good yielders.
But it is the only kush i ever grew, cant compare how others do.

What you see are 3 monster clones in 2.5 gallon hempys in a 2.5x2.5 scrog with tons of light.

Bored again - happy Wednesday!
Day 24 12/12 for these.

And the step-child is still growing. It MIGHT be a foot tall, if the leaves are stretching up.

Looks great! I think I left too much lower stuff on mine, but we'll see.

Dont think you left too much, pretty spot on would say.
But no expert there, just know that i normally leave too much, lol, but am getting better fighting the larf.

Your outdoor monster looks very healthy, like the big single fan leafs.

This is from my latest harvest. I didn't prune like usual, so I have a set of these on each limb. I usually prune those away about week 3 of flower, and for some reason didn't on this one. The blue circle is the "double-nugs" that dry to about pea-size.

That is my best practice for limiting larf. If all of those "second node" shoots get pruned, all the other stuff gets plumper.
That's all I was talking about with the NL monsters. I think there are a few lower ones that could have been snipped. I don't think any will have that second node though.

as i say you really plan your plants, i watch and learn.

I just don't like a scrog. Hate them. I think the training might be easier, and you'll probably get a bigger yield per plant. I just don't have the patience for all that tucking and tying. I think that the manifold thingy is just the best use of time and space to get a decent bud at the end.

all training methods serve one goal, get a flat canopy.
How you achieve this doesnt really matter i think.
Yield wise scrog seems to work out fine, whatever works.

Lookin real good, am sure this will give some fat buds.

Actually, with a manifold it's more about getting more light to more leaves. Sometimes the cola do what they want...

Just starting to see a few browns on everything, and the redheaded step-child outside is starting to flower as well. Looks like she's about 3 weeks in. I haven't been paying attention, just dumping run-off around her and hitting her with a garden hose...

Maybe the spider can eat any bad buggies
But I don't think this is one.

looking good, lets hope your outdoor girl wont be eaten.
If she got eaten, looks your indoor grow will compensate easily.

The outside one is just for giggles. If you look at the flower room, it just won't fit. It has literally no attention other than watering. If the bugs start in now that it's flowering I might hit them with some neem oil or something. Temps are about to drop 10-15 degrees outside... Back to grow room temps during the day, but chilly at night.
