I've used it with hydro and had good results, though my tubing is 1/4". Anything smaller and you're likely to get clogged lines.

Or, in my case, maybe clogged aerostones?

ive been using molasses every watering in flowering for soil and so far i havent seen anything happen accept mass trichs appear and buds fatten, cant really over-do molasses unless u clog its ventilation. right?

Couldn't tell you for sure(I don't use one). I imagine that it would be ok considering that those things are constantly moving air. Hopefully someone else can confirm this.

ya make sure its diluted before adding to rez.... its real chunky but it should be fine if the airstones constantly are putting out bubbles, when they turn off the water will stop moving and give it a chance to clog it
