Well that comment could have been directed towards me, mogie or just about anyone else here who has had a comeback that you classify as "from someone under 18". What I'd expect from someone just out of high school is exactly what you just did, degrading someone by making them seem like a child. I'm not defending anyone but myself here and in doing so I have to say that your comment was too vague for me to even give a correct response.

No its when you cant say anything back, and have to lower yourself to silly comments that SOUND like they are underage, and all to do with what some one has in there Avatar.

It shouldn't matter if something sounds underage or not, for me that is part of being a stoner. while I'm not high I am usually mature quite mature and usually cannot bring myself to make comments that make me sound like an idiot. but when I am stoned I can say those things and not give a fuck about the consequences, if I felt like I have to act all upright and mature, at the same time as being stoned I'd quit smoking in an instant. Being immature and being a stoner is part of the fun, enjoy it, don't knock it.

I also checked with son of chong on this one. I always bow to his years of grow experience and the fact he runs a hydro store.

He said, "Two tablespoons starting in the 7th week of flower".

I start much earlier. But in flower also. There differing opinions on when to start but we agree on the amount.
Personally, the plants appear able to take up a much higher amount than is here being published. Not that this (2tsp/gallon or 10ml/3.9L) wouldn't be of benefit to the plant, but it certainly isn't the limit that, once exceeded, leads to the swift death of all green things under the sun...

I started using molasses as soon as I heard about it, about two weeks ago (meaning late in the second week of flowering) and have been using it ever since with nearly every watering, maybe skipping twice. I water every 2-3 days with the summer heat, and my dosage has been very beneficial to plant growth. I mix up, on low average, 3ml/L, but have used 5ml/L without any problems. Yours (mogie and others) is around 2.5ml/L.

Can anyone explain to me why I shouldn't give them so much when they seem perfectly happy to eat all that I can give them and the buds keep swelling? I would have no problem moving this up to 4ml/L based on the current results...

Personal experimentation, it seems to me, is necessary here. I will, if everyone wants to check my grow journal to see results, be stepping this up to 4ml/L. The numbers floating around are good and all, but until backed up (at least for me) with photos, stats regarding yield, as well as subjective effects (taste/smell), I see no reason to accept the 2.5ml/L figure as anything but a benchmark to start from. A little more evidence would allow for some cooler heads, and better pot. Here's the victim of 3+ml/L after four weeks flower...:blsmoke:

nice! i was mixing into a 2 liter bottle... but i didn't measure the amount of molasses... i just filled it so that each one of the little divets at the bottom of the bottle were basically full... it worked wonders, i'm still in the 5th week of veg, so....

I'd have to say that you have been adding even more than I have if our bottles resemble each other at all. 3ml/L is usually enough to fill up the divets only a small fraction of the way. You may have put in up to four times my dose without any negative effects! I certainly have no fear now of upping it, though I would be curious to know what other fertilizer you were using with it... My water also ends up a golden light brownish color with my other nutes added. Anything darker and you've definitely got a higher concentration. I say keep it up! I see no reason except for hearsay for dosing lower...

I wouldnt say them guys that used it in there hydro where dumb, they just took what they read as being the truth, and believing that the person giving the advice had experience with that subject, and didnt do any extra research to find out if what they where saying was right or not

Im not saying dont take advice but dont belive everything you read.
I think you have to make sure anyone giving advice understands your situation(outdoor, indoor, hydro, sick plants, strain, etc) because they might assume something, naturally. On another board I know some people that choose to "help" but if you don't take what they say as law you aren't treated well and you really aren't supposed to ask questions even if something doesn't stand to reason. Worse, there are no other options, just do it. Someone gave me some advice on transplanting healthy plants- just pop the root ball out. Well, thanks to the FAQ on this board I found some better ways to give my healthy plants the needed space to grow without having to do it right away or risk any kind of root shock or amateur learning mistakes from "popping out the rootball".

FWIW, I just happened to be on another board and a nice, hot debate is ongoing about whether or not molasses, or any carbo, does MJ any good at all. One person is requesting any kind of double-blind study and of course there aren't any, especially using molasses. The person requesting the study or proof is saying that at least one would expect a harsher plant not good for the lungs from having dried sugar in your buds. I don't want to start a debate. In fact, I'm going to hopefully have enough plants that I can add molasses to some and not others and see for myself the result while growing and taste and feel when smoking. So, no problem.

Many of you though know anecdotally how your plants and smoke were before you used molasses or a carb and after. I would be some of you have even done side by sides with and without it. So if you would, talk about why you believe carbs in flowering help produce a better result and if you feel like it adds any extra harshness to the buds.

yea i have been using a standard two liter bottle of soda, per say... and yea, i filled up each divet to the top almost, and then filled the bottle with running stream water.. and shook it up nice.. it looked like a little darker captain morgan rum... and i watered on one day, and three days later they almost doubled in size... check out my grow journal and see the pics!!

i need to go give them a GOOD dousing right now, but i might hold off on molasses, or use just a little bit this time. this heat is drying them up fast.

And that's exactly the problem with this forum. Way too many 'self styled grow guru's' who've read a few threads and maybe started a grow who now think they know everything. I see it on here all the time and it's a shame only about 10% of them actually know what they're talking about.

That's also exactly what happened with molasses and hydro. The original poster of the Molasses thread omitted to mention that Molasses should not be used in hydro and so a couple of people went of and did exactly that - one lost their grow and the other I beleive had to take clones.

All because the original poster was not knowledgeable enough and didn't tell people how Molasses should be used and in what systems.

Welcome to Rollitup!

When your new you dont realise how much there is to know about growing, you just think that someone pro can look at your setup and tell you whats wrong, trouble is there are too many people that act pro with a lack of knowledge and experience to back that up.

Dried sugar in the buds? What a load of bollocks.

This is the problem with Molasses - very few people actually understand what it does or why it's used. I don't use it myself as I don't feel the need to, but I can understand why others might want to. However, dried sugar in dried buds? Where does he get that from? Plants don't 'uptake' the sugars from Molasses, the only way a plant can make sugar is via photosynthesis, not by uptaking them directly.

The sugars and carbs in Molasses feeds the soil micro herd, which in turn multiply and colonise other parts of the soil thus increasing the chelating affect of the soil microbes. Greater colonisation of the micro herd = more chelation of organic nutrients = greater nutrient intake. Molasses also contains plenty of trace elements and minor minerals which the plant can uptake after conversion from the micro herd.

What I can never understand is why people using chemical based nutrient fertilisers also use Molasses. Chemical nutrients are already in a plant assimilation form, and therefore do not need conversion by the micro herd. You're only getting half the benefit of molasses if you're using chemical based nutrients.

I'm sick to death and back again of this Molasses discussion.

you sound knowledgable.. but SORRYYY i just hear a lot about it, and wanted to give it a whirl... anything to make my plant grow bigger and stronger is cool with me...

it can't do any harm can it? so screw it.
