feeding the plants that type of sugar can also help harmful bacteria thrive. but hey whatever, to each is own man. if it works for you, thats awesome! :weed:

yeah and tell me how much more your bud weigh than mine...lol...
the weight of your buds compaired to mine will not give you a fair assesment of molasses or brown sugar. our weed genetics are probably way different. if you want some proof do as i did. i was skeptical so i took clones 4 i watered with brown sugar 4 without sugar and the buds without diddnt fill out as well as the ones i gave the sugar to. i tried this experiment a second time and got similar results. im not a pro and dont claim to be but i will use it a few times throughout the flowering only and
i 've seen the difference in my observations. too much sugar or feeding it too often will cause a buildup of sugar and attract bugs all you need is a little a few times during flower

. Liquid molasses, dry molasses powder, brown sugar, corn syrup - source of fast consuming sugars for feeding and breeding the aerobic bacteria in compost teas. Most microherd populations love the high carbon content in sugar products. Sugars are best dissolved and broken down by microbes in compost tea that has brewed at least 1-3 days, before applying to the soil. If too much sugar is added on soil straight as a topdressing, it may cause a temporary nitrogen deficiency in the soil as the microherd populations grow too fast. Molasses also contains sulfur which acts as a mild natural fungicide also. Molasses is also a great natural deodorizer for fishy teas. NOTE: Recent studies have shown that unsulfured molasses or dry molasses powder is best for faster aerobic microbial growth in tea brewing. For a more fungal tea don't add too much simple sugar or molasses to your aerobic teas. Use more complex sugars, starches and carbohydrates like in seaweed, rotten fruit, soy sauce, or other fungal foods.

So from piecing together everything that has been said, are you guys adding sugar to up the amount of usable nitrogen in the soil during blooming in order to increase yield? Or are the plants supposed to get the sugar?

i use mollases in my outdoor soil and flood table in place of overpriced boosts and additives..unsulphered mollases is more benefcial than sugar however giving an extra boost of p

My buddy did a soil organic grow w/o adding nutes but added molasses. His buds tasted so much better than they should have imho, it definitely rivaled the so-called "headies" that are around town. Using molasses appeared legit at that time of the plants life cycle after the soils nutes were probably used up.

This whole mollasses thing seems to polarise everyone every time It's mentioned.
If you think it's bullshit then fine, don't use it, period.
If you think it works then use it.
I use it but that's because it works for me.

I just used molasses and water today on my sativa plant. heard about using molasses from a pumpkin farmer near me that grows contest sized pumpkins. my plants are budding out like crazy and some of them are getting a nice skunky smell. i hope my buds explode too, as right now they are mostly tight white hairs in little nodules with very few foilage around them. the pumpkin grower told me that using molasses will also cause alot of foilage. i will post some pics in a week or 3 to let you know what is going on

Have you noticed the only people that it didn't work for or have had problems can't cite any instances of this happening. Something tells me they didn't try it but just say it didn't work so they have something to type.
adding sugar like molasses or brown sugar to your plant is a really bad idea...at least that's what i've always been told about this myth.
Or maybe they're still growing Mexican quality weed in poor conditions in the woods or under a 60w incandescent bulb because they think the first method devised for anything is the be all and end all so don't bother trying "new" techniques.

Give it a shot on half of your plants and observe and report your results. If it kills that half or does nothing then you know it does not work. If they get larger buds or taste better than the untreated half, then you know it works. You'll also see it first hand so next time someone asks, you'll be able to say it does/does not work. I've never done it myself and I've never seen a proper test with a control group, photographs, and yield weights so I can't say for sure if it works or not. The general heresay seems to be that yes it works siginificantly.

Edit: It's been suggested that you should stop adding molasses/brown sugar along with your fertilizer and flush a week before harvest to prevent from getting a harsh smoke. This makes me question what it's doing when it supposedly makes your bud taste better.

I've used molasses in organic tea with great results, especially in hempy buckets. Haven't tried brown sugar. Curious to see the results compared to molasses. I imagine molasses has more micro-nutrients.

I've used cane sugar before and I didn't have any issues. I didn't really do any form of side by side comparison so I really couldn't say if it made a difference in yield, however I did notice a much sweeter aroma emitting from my buds after I began using the sugar. It could be a coincidence however.

I mix 1 TBP of Molasses, 2 TBP of Dark Pure Cane Sugar to 1 gallon distilled water. I ph down with Organic Apple Cider Vinegar(few drops), a few drops of Sodium Hydroxide for oxygen, shake a couple of times, let sit overnight. Water in morning, in flower day 27. . . ahhh My ladies love it! ;-)

and I always flush and water for 7 days before Harvest with distilled water only. No starchy bud, after about 5-7 days. Much larger and tasty buds, worry about tie ups, staking when the final Cougar hormonal seduction bud swell,(about 50-60 days). Regardless of strain, or nutes used, etc. I recommend a pure water 5-7 day end and an early 4am harvest . .
