Moisture meter help

I've been growing 6 white widows for about 2 weeks now and since this is my first grow and i'm still learning, i'm scared to death i'm going to kill with over water. I don't trust myself since i'm so impatient to do the 3 inches down test for moisture lol. My problem now is that I can't find a meter. I've been to lowes, walmart, target, and NONE. None anywhere lol. I want to order one online but don't want to spend alot and can only find these gimmicky looking things like ladybugs and frogs. Are those good? I don't want to waste money ya know? Any tips on what to get and where would be awesome.

hey badjuju..

what medium are you growing in?
what size cotainer are you growing in?
what lights are you using?
what is your room temp?

I ask these questions 'cause I want to asses the risk of your over or underwatering...

you will get comfortable very quickly without a moisture meter..

can you post a picture of your plants?

I'll try to get you guys a picture soon.

I'm running CFL's, about 8 of them now but planning on more. Half of the CFL's are cool daylight and the other half are soft whites. The lights are on 24/7 and I'm using Miracle Grow moisture control potting mix. With a room temp around 78-84.
