mogul open wing reflector mod for CFL bulb?

I have a spare open wing HID reflector, it has the "ballast" type tips on the cable for the socket.

Can I cut that tip off and wire a standard plug to it, and then use it for a CFL?

The cfl is self ballasted, so the wattage would be right....right?

Will the reflector power cable have 3 wires in it or just 2?

If the bulb fits i think it will be okay, got a picture of your reflector? Im not sure if you would even have to cut it up any.
(Don't take my word for it though, the last time I did some home electrics I turned it on with a long wooden stick! lol worked though)
Don't feel I've helped much..

I'm not asking it clearly.

How would I plug a HPS reflector up to the wall outlet. I just need standard wattage for the CFL. I know I'd have to change the "tips". Which prong is +, -, ground?

If you dont want to ruin your HPS wire, you can just go to the hardware store and buy a mogul socket. (10$ at ace?)
and wire a regular 120v plug to it.

Then just remove the existing socket from your reflector and replace it.

it worked, I got a heavy duty standard tip, and it had a green, white, black wire like the mogul cable did. Strip, connect color to color and it worked!

I would have, but I never intend to use an HPS or MH without a cooltube again... so being that this had a great reflector AND the socket I needed....saved me $40 and it's a lot more light than just a mogul socket without a reflector would have given me for $15.
