Mogs mixed lighting hps/led grow

ok a grow thread , warts and all , led growers will love and hate me for this

this is a tent grow in a 2x2 , the grows in soil and the strains nebular which is a local clone only beast , the lights

hps 600 with philips bulb and digi ballast ( lumitec with a switch i never bother with )
cree 210 led in mix spec , so called american made but seeing how you can buy them bult made in china !!!
the others got english made ,,gtfo ,, chinese and 300 watts , loads of fans , good quality though

and so to the grow

vegged for just 2 weeks or so ( maybe less ) they were dropped into the tent and straight into flower , at this point they were very small .... it didnt last .... a week later i popped back to find the tent was at about a million degrees and i needed to get my shit together quickly , at that point i had no extraction , because of the temps the plants were a day or so from death such was the dehydration so they had rather alot of water slopped through them and everythings good again , a week later i pop back again and although its still hot its tollerable , what wasnt was the water had buggered off plus some dipshit had managed to turn the lights onto on and forgot to switch back to timer , dam , so now there not so smalland the grow will not do so good unless im prepared to trim ,,,which im not , also the lack of water had caused vrs plants to go yellow and cast of leaves , not doing well here , also the temps well the house there in isnt heated and its around the 12 degrees but its been upto 40 inside the tent and is now in the high 20`s now the fans sorted , leds arnt all it seems aye , so much for lack of heat , its registering the exact temps made by 2x600 in the same tent but when the passive intake was warmer , the only difference is im now using a bigger scrubber which should aid the temps ummmm

the hps is doing its thing , the plants under it are easily bigger and going at it , the leds trail behind , not too far behind but still not quite there , the hps is covering an area thats massive for 1 little bulb so is doing a superb job and i cant say im disappointed in the led , they will do a decent job and have done in the past

not the ridge of larger plant growth , the plants under the hps are wedged in thanks to my errrrr inability to grow properly ( the timer incident ) , theres still grow room for the leds which may come in handy as i will no doubt need to move a few round due to size

lets call this week 1 , in flower now for 3-4 days

Clarification, please: You're running a 600 watt HPS against a 210 watt LED? Can you link to some information about the light, particularly its spectrum?

You say the plants under the HPS are bigger. Can you give a description comparing the node density of the plants under either light?

I love a good side by side, I'd just like some specific information to really understand what's going on. Cheers.

id love to be able to help with the angle of the leds etc but being honest i havnt a clue , there was no paperwork in with it beyond item 1 a light , item 2 a plug lead , all i can remember is its a modular light ( the cree ) so its possible to swop out the leds if so required on a plug and play basis , this what attracted me to this light , the other i popped into the grow shop and brought the display light without paperwork or box , at less than a quid a watt i figured its a bargain

as for plant structure ill happily do this next time im over which will be either tomorrow or saturday , ill drag a couple out so you can have a good look yourself , its not my intent to embellish in any way either hps or led and so ill let alot of pictures do the talking , ill offer what i see but im more inclined to let the plants do the talking , for this grow im after an honest appraisal , im also hoping also to segregate the led grown plants and weigh them to compare the 2 , that would be interesting , from past grows a space lit by leds has always yielded less than hps , there is of course the wattage difference but then whats harder to come by ? a bit of elec or a space to grow in ? should be good

led good for sidelighting at best,, and how many u got i ther? seems way to may for 1x600hps, i know u got the led in ther but thats not gunna mae much diffrence ud have been better with a 400 hps/ mh or sum shit,.yes ur saveing a few qqid on leki but i bet ur lossing a few Z in yeild,, and ther autos too aren they? pff just go fem 12-12 from seed mate better results, cheaper lekki, maybe if u did 12-12 from seed u could do away with th eled for a 2nd hps and then u will be rockin the slap the led as side lighting, just sayin like.

and your temps will be like that ur using one of those rubbish parabollox refelctors, get a aircooled HOOD, not a tube coz ther shit too,, get a good hood, u wont regret it, mine is the bollox m8, absolutely no heat gets into my room,and if u need a lil heat just open the glass a tad to the desired heat needed..

again just a thought,, u gotta get the best u can with what u can afford or have got innit pal,, maybe sum airpots too, i love em

there doing there thing , stretch has brought the led to the same size as the hps , most of the plants look hungray after some retard forgot to feed them for 2 weeks ..... that would be me then .......... with a carbon filter in there it at an interesting humidity , 99% , go figure , so seeing as im venting from 1 room to another then i lost the c/f at which point the fan went ``thankfuckforthat`` and started to shift air at last and viola 60% which will do me , 30 at times 60 when watered , happy with that

its all looking tickty boo and lickerty split so ill get my shit together and get pictures as soon as i can

sad to say ive had to chop early due to a security issue , theres a total of around lets say errrrrrrr 60 oz or so ?

but how did they compare ? well upto this point there was easily a better spread of light from the hps which enabled simply more bud to develop , its hard to get close to a 600w hps in a parablic , i will say the led wasnt far behind , ok the penetrations not there so the base is a bit of a hairy mess but the tops are looking great and im more than pleased with the results , they havnt knocked out giant colas but then neither did the hps given the early finish , for this is say a firm 9/10 for the hps but not so far behind 8/10 for the led

a conclusion would be that leds are there , not in the future but in the here and now , id also say that if someone were to grow using just led they may be disappointed but in a multi light grow they work very very well and in the near future id happily get some more
