Modifying Old Blurples for Greater Efficiency...

ya it had a 3 prong cord. the ground (red instead of green!) was attached to one of the fan screws (which is attached to the steal case)..IMG_0457.JPG

OK - So everything screwed to the case was grounded. I would definitely run the green wire to the driver case and the yellow module bar.

What does the back side of the yellow module bar look like? Any wiring?...

the yellow bars are just extruded aluminum heatsinks (super dirty!)... the yellow coating is plastic film that was probably supposed to be peeled off before the modules were attached to the heatsink (unless it's some sort of thermal material?..) I honestly think whoever assembled this one at the factory just forgot to peel the plastic off :eyesmoke:..

You can find some nice mini multi meters. I got mine at Radio Shack before they went out of business.

How is the progress? Or was that nugget too stoney :)

I have an Apollo 20 Blrurple from 2017. Removed 5 of the 10 drivers and and half of the fans too. Re-wired everything in parallel which took for ever. The light went from 720W to 350W. Strange the light looks as bright as before.

I did it with my old mars II 400s each one now has 6 citizen 1212 cobs based on a growmause video i saw couldnt be happier with the changes
