Moby Dick - Dinafem - grow/smoke report

Ahoy there Mateys, and there she blows, the great whale Moby Dick! 007.jpg010.jpg I ordered this strain after flowering 2 other Dinafem strains. I happened to see a video of Moby, and how she clunked so hard on the scale, when she was poured out of the jar. So I thought I would give Moby a try, almost 25 dollars for a single seed... But this plant was impressive, rock hard buds, and I do mean rock hard, as hard as I've seen... And the aroma it is giving off, is like incredibly sweet grape bub daddy's bubble gum. I haven't smoked any yet, but I will in a few days. (At about 10 weeks flowering time) Moby was pretty easy to grow, and forgiving, despite a somewhat longer flowering period.

Spain as opposed to Holland, is filled with boutique growers, that are less concerned about flowering time and yield. As they are about flavor and quality, Dinafem is a Spanish company, I think this type of breeding, shows in DF's seed line :)

I have some experience with this strain. Big colas, easy to grow, huge yield. The high is somewhat psychedelic and trippy. Pretty strong stuff. The only drawback is that it has a sort of lousy, dirty taste lol.

It's entirely possible that the flavor doesn't match the aroma... The Pineapple Express I grew out smelled nice but tasted the worst of anything I tried...

Shit looks great Vincent Vonblown! As far as PE, mine tasted great. I grew it out last run, and it was the best tasting and the most potent of the 3 strains that I grew. Everyone loved it! It looked great too! I grew out the G13 Labs PE by the way! Anyways your Moby looks really good and frosty!

Yes it's interesting how some people will get different results from the same thing. One of the reasons may be variability in the seed stock itself. Another reason can simply be the type of light used to produce your product. I like to flower under fluroscent lighting. And while most strains seem to have their best moments under the fluros in my opinion, some strains may haven been bred so far away from a more natural type lighting. They don't do as well...

Flushing is more or less a myth from what I've seen... Pouring in just water at the end tends to start the curing process earlier, and that's why the cannabis will seem a bit better when flushed... But if you wait a bit longer you get the same product without flushing.

Or it's because you pop a single s33d expecting it to be the best representation of the strain...
Try buying 5-10 or even 20 like I did! (multiple keepers in G13labs Pineapple Express)
There were some avg.+terrible plants in the same packs I found the keepers in.

I understand if you got it as a freebie or just didn't care to spend $ on the 5pk.
^Just don't expect miracles when you don't have any selection.
Think a breeder would germ. 1 bean to find his keeper?

Yes, I've just finished some of the Moby Dick bud. Amazingly it is almost tasteless... Yes even though it was awesome smelling on the stick. It failed to have any flavor whatsoever, I guess that's better then a bad taste right? It was good smoke other then no flavor...

On the Pineapple express, no I purchased the seed myself it wasn't given to me. I was curious because I heard the name mentioned quite a bit, and wanted to try it.

A friend told me that he heard from more then one grower it wasn't that great (the PE), and I shouldn't waste my time on it. But like most people I like to find out these type of things for myself... To be frank it's hard for me to imagine that the Express could be so variable it would have pure shit expressions mixed in with good ones... As I don't see that kind of results in my breeding, if I did I'd probably discontinue the line...

When I came on the net about 13 years ago. You really couldn't get dank in seed form, there were held clones. But they were like lottery tickets, few and far between. And nobody really wanted to give you a cutting. So your option was to go through a huge amount of seeds to find something half way decent to clone.

One of the reasons The Bros. Grimm were important to the breeding of cannabis. Is that they presented dank in seed form, and it was consistent... Now what I mean by "dank" is something that has been bred to have a very ingrained flavor, and recognizable taste... Now the flavor might be anything, you might like one flavor better then another etc. But the definition of dank is rich in flavorful terpenes.

I think the breeders in Spain are out performing the Dutch. I think they are releasing more stable strains and better quality. I've been working with alot of Pyramid Seeds strains and really impressed with the stability and quality/potency. I've been running Anesthesia for a couple years have had a lot of vet smokers say its probably in the top 2 or 3 strains that they have ever smoked.

Pyramid lists Anesthesia at 17% THC, if a Dutch grower was selling it they would probably be listed at 25% +, lol.

Their Tut tested at 33% THC at the Spannibus Cup. They still have it listed in 20's.

I'm running Anubis and Blue Pyramid right now and it looks awesome in veg, they will hit the flower room shortly. I anticipate more quality results.

PS. Ran some PE a couple years ago, pretty plants mediocre potency.

Why did you post "smoke/grow report" then we find out you haven't even harvested yet..

In case your a little confused or can't read that well. I chopped the bud, before I put the first picture in. But any bud has to have at least a 4 day dry down period, before you would even think of smoking it properly... So, I waited a few days, before I smoked it.

You can of course just microwave a wet bud, or be one of these guys that think they can tell what pot tastes like by smelling the bud or leaf etc. But I find even if you have the finest taste buds, your much better off to do it right :)

I do not know how to give someone rep or i would dump a bomb of it on you. Yes the Spanish breeders are outperforming the dutch, it's much easier to breed here if you were to do so property and rent are LOW and police doesn't even know how to install a flir camera on a chopper plus the police chief's sons are all stoners like the other 70% of the population. If you are a lover of Spanish breeders look into Medical seeds. Their channel + is like dinafem's critical + but 10 times improved in taste and smell and i already love critical +, enough to get into a fight if i were a violent person. I've smoked medical seeds entire catalogue if you want to kick ideas around

I love! Moby Dick a lovely hazey smoke. I also wrote a report on it here:

https://www.rollitup.org/smoke-reports/628466-moby-dick-dinafem-spanish-co.html

Dinafem is was and will be the shit for a long time . I recently found that the almost mind blowing amnesia haze at my autocultivation club is Dinafem's Original Amnesia so if anyone wants the propper amnesia haze get dinafem's.
