MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

I believe your misinformed. With the MMAR program extended you can still buy from designated growers. Import permit wasn't really an issue from speaking with an approved lp in my city.
You may want to look into this. The MMAR was NOT extended, just the ability for current DG and PPL to continue to produce their own medicine and to posses up to 150 grams.. The MMAR is GONE. Only the MMPR exists now and the ability to purchase from a ATP or PPL is over.

This was discussed over the phone at the end march, without it in writing I understand it doesn't mean squat. I'll try to get something in writing and let you know.
As far as I know, there is no way to get starting material from a DG, PPL or ATP since April 1, 2014. If anyone has any information on this topic, I would love your input.

To adam@ac: Who did you discuss this with at the end of March? Was it Health Canada?

There could always be legal sources that you are not aware of
In the Netherlands Importing, stocking, supplying and exporting cannabis seed is exempted from regulation under the 1961 U.N. Single Convention on narcotic drugs and affiliated international treaties. In countries such as the Netherlands, freedom to tradecannabis seeds is clearly incorporated in the national Opium or Narcotics Act legislation.

From HC.........

Import is a legal source of supply of marihuana for Licensed Producers. Narcotics can only be imported or exported if the shipment is authorized by a permit issued by Health Canada. A Licensed Producer, who holds a valid Controlled Drugs and Substances Licence, is eligible to apply for such a permit. Direct importation or exportation of starting materials by individuals is prohibited under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

Please note that prior to contacting the Office of Controlled Substances to assist with the process, you must identify a legal foreign source and must provide their complete contact information. You must ensure that the potential legal source is allowed to import/export out of their country. Any processing fees and other legalities associated with the process are the sole responsibility of the applicant. It is on the onus of the Licensed Producer to determine a legal foreign source.

From a seed bank in Europe......

While we are happy to work with Canada in an official way, let me know what it requires from our side other than seed strains so we know what you are asking.
Please review our shop pricelist attached all the best.

Same as UK, Spain, Uraguay, Isreal, etc.

No you can not, currently there are two methods for starting materials, import from a legal source or from an LP in Canada. There are Canadian companies coming online to fill the need for anything from cultures to clones of any size and a few seed companies I have spoken to are applying so they can sell plants to LP's that were all started from seeds. Kind of exciting for the industry.

the current listed companies have a total combined production capacity of 93,000,000 grams a year, the average script is 3 grams a day = 1,000 grams a year per patent = 93,000 new patents this year = 1/4 total projected market growth over ten years = CAN YOU SAY OVERSUPPLY! market consolidation is inevitable, HC is managing the market and the stock market for Tweed and the boys they brought in early to try to make sure they had enough supply on the street. Now they have to pay the devil they created by skipping them ahead clearances and all. The MMAR has nothing to do with the LP's, people who grow at home do so because they can't afford $2.50 a gram let along $6.00 a gram meds so they are not even customers. Don't fool yourself the play here is not Medical Cannabis it's recreational weed, that's the big picture. We have a chance of a new government in Canada in 16 months if that happens weed will be everywhere and the whole medical issues goes away. If the current government hangs on they will be forced to change thier ways by world events and the countries of North America. This will happen in 5 years. Legislation is the true prize.

Let the people grow!

Thanks woodsmaneh!
I don't agree that the whole medical issue goes away if legalization happens.
Washington State and Colorado have medical programs that run concurrently with a legalized system.
I guess what I meant to say is if you have to be 18 to by cannabis than the need for Doctor scrip goes out the window.

There could always be "temporary legal" sources that Health Canada will make available to an LP at the time of their establishment. Can't confirm, but I've heard rumours that they create temporary situations should there be a good reason. Everything with them seems to be about negotiating and finding a middle ground where everyone wins.

Hi leaffan, could you please elaborate on "legal sources"? I would love to find another way to get starting materials !!!!
Hi MJ, I wasn't trying to insinuate that I knew of another legal avenue.I guess what I was suggesting is that there could be other legal routes than what has been repeatedly quoted by HC. We all know by now that there are some exceptions or flexing of the regs by HC when the timing or the circumstances warrant it. I would not be shocked to find out at a later date that there is another way around this issue. One reason for this belief is the compromised position newly Licensed Producers are put it. I'm sure these new LPs would have a legal team that would be all over this penalization issue brought on by HC as a result of "stalling on the approval side".
Maybe I'm way off base.
