Mixed spectrum COBs

My 2 cents: only makes sense to have different spectrums if you can dim the different spectrums cobs separately. Say 4000-5000k for veg at full blast for veg with a little 3000 or 2700k and then turn up the warmer spectrum for flower, or hit ur plants with cold spectrum over the flowering stretch to inhibit stretch. That way you can customize ur spectrum during the grow. But u probably need to design it for a higher wattage in this case.
If you want to go full on spectrum check out the vero decor C: they have one thats 1700k, almost only red light, centered around 630 nm. They are on backorder on cytter at thw moment

Is there a safe way to have a second dimmer running one channel of lights? Or do I need two separate drivers and dimmers to run them like that?

Has anyone tried mounting a water cooling kit to their COBs before?

I found my old pc water cooler that never got installed. And wanted use it to do the majority of the cooling on my next light.

Apparently I don't need to water cool what I'd run. Still like the idea of it though.

Also. I found a 150w driver (LGSU-150-C1400) that would ideally suit the build. I do still want to drive my cobs a little harder than just 50w each. With this driver in mind. How high is too much? I was thinking about 65w each.

I'm running 16 CXB3590s in a 4x4.
There is no definitive answer to your spectrum question in my view (and I've looked pretty hard).
There are some principles however:
The higher colour temperatures are generally more efficient, so you will get more actual usable light for the power consumed.
Higher colour temperatures will restrict stretching.
Lower colour temperatures will encourage juicy flowering - and stretch..
Photosynthesis is more sensitive to the amount of light than the colour temperature.
You will need to make your own decisions for your grow, but here's what I did.
I vegged under 8x5000K (ie half of my lights) (you don't need as much light for small plants)
When I flipped to flower, I added 4x300k 90cri and 4x300k 80cri. This was a guess, based upon lots of reading and a general sense that plants like a bit of variety.
Loving the results :)
In the future, I will flower under 3500K, as a balance between 'good' colour and ''good' efficiency.

Dont forget that Mark at Cutter can offer Veros too.

Okay. How about if I mixed the 6500k and 3500k chips? I really don't want plants getting all that tall. Though hopefully these next ones end up larger than my current 15cm midget I have going.
ive got the 1212 blue-only cobs (no phosphor). you could literally run one of these as supplemental light for first 3 weeks of flower and accomplish everything you are trying to do

Cutter has less options in Vero than Cree. I don't mind paying the higher price for the color/s I'm interested in.

Besides. That 2x2 area is only for one plant. I've taken a liking to manifolding.

The only reason I feel the 4000k is the better option because of the outputted wavelengths are more balanced.

If you're going to run the chips hard, like over 75% of max, then water cooling begins to make sense again.

That's kind of why I was interested in the water block. I wanted to run them a bit harder than just 50w each.

Okay. So what about one plant under a 5 and a 3? Would one side grow taller than the other because of there being more red in one spot?
