So many like MG,,,WTF?

How about you look at it this way....
If MG worked as good as some of you think. Then why does it not get used in ANY commercial operations?

For those who say "Back in the day".... It was NOT all you had to choose from. It didn't give the end results I wanted then, it won't now!
Back in the day, there was Peters and Jack's and a few other more regional products.
ALL of them out preformed MG, when properly applied.

There were more organic growers too (see @ganga gurl420 above) The use of manures and such was far more wide spread in many places!
That takes a learning curve that many today, don't have the time, or better put, the "patience" to learn.

I use MG w great success. Your argument about commercial grows is a mute point because A) who really knows the details of how every commercial grow is operated.
B) We are discussing home grows with completely different setups than any commercial grow. There are a million more differences between commercial and personal so to use that as an argument is ridiculous.
C) Jack's is the EXACT SAME THING as Miracle Gro... the exact same chemicals everything, it's literally just a different brand. It's like different brands of Asprin. I feel like you don't understand what you are talking about.

I also feel like you are not speaking from a place of person experience, just judgement. MG, if used correctly works the same as any other chemical or organic (yes they sell both chemical & organic as fertilizers). The plants don't know the difference, it's human error that is the problem. I save a ton of $$ by using Miracle Gro. I do add in some cal mag. Other than that I use Miracle Gro. I do not use the original blend at all. What I use is: Tomato blend (different doses depending on what stage it's in, I follow instructions on the back for tomatoes. From seedlings to adulthood the doses change) I also use their bloom feed during flower, and I use their all organic water soluble feed if I need to feed them more than 1x weekly so I do not burn the plants. All of this along with some molasses during flower and that's it. I get HUGE beautiful trees and flowers.
I feel like MG developed a bad reputation early on as their original formula is not good for the bloom stage and people have been hating on it ever since. But I am here to grow Affordably, and after gardening for YEARS before ever touching a cannabis plant I learned a lot and apply it to my cannabis as well. It works. Please stop spreading misinformation and shaming people who are using it. I agree that there are some other great options out there, but this does work as well. Thank you

You are posting on a 2009 thread, although it was dredged up again most recently in 2019.

Seems you feel pretty strongly about using MG tomato blend for your cannabis plants. You could start a new MG thread in the appropriate Forum (e.g. if you grow outdoors post it under Outdoor Growing).

You’ll get more traction with a new thread most likely. Just make sure you have a thick skin because MG really does get hated on by some here, both the organic farmers and the chemical nute ones.

Happy growing

So what's the consensus of MG blue fert? It seems like a foolproof method. Any disadvantages?

Basically I don't want to use anything that can burn my plant. Is there anything that 'will not burn' like blue?
I used tons of the turquoise crystals back in the day. Mix half strength and it doesn’t burn. Then I’d use dahlia food for flower. But the GH original trio is top shelf compared to the turquoise soup.

I'm not really in a position to have compost piles, worm beds and make my own soil right now so I use what I've got. I use the all purpose at 1 table spoon per 5 gallon bucket of water from the time they have 3 sets or leaves. The first couple of weeks of flower I'll use 1 or 2 table spoons of rose formula per 5 gallon bucket. for the rest of flower I go with 1 or 2 table spoons of bloom booster per 5 gallons. I also supplement with general hydro micro, grow, and bloom depending on what they look like they need. Usually in flower I'll add the gh micro at 10ml per 5 gallons and bloom at 20ml per 5 gallons. I usually have to water about 3 times a week and about every 4th or 5th watering I'll do 1 scoop of miracle grow and 1 scoop of epsome salt. I'm lucky to have good tap water that's about 100ppm dissolved solids and that makes a huge difference. I also used mg when i was farming night fh1.jpgfh5.jpgfh6.jpgshade varieties tomatoes, peppers, ect and always had great production.
