MiniVAP Vaporizer, and vaping questions in general (slightly long post..)

Hi folks,

Has anyone tried the MiniVap Vaporizer? I just watched a review of it on YouTube, and it looks fairly awesome. The thing is, I don't really know what I'm talking about, though.. I'm a habitual joint smoker, and I've reached the point where I really want to stop smoking tobacco (in fact, smoking entirely). I wake up in the morning, and although I don't smoke cigarettes any longer, my body craves the nicotine I get from a joint. I wonder if my initial craving for a smoke in the morning would subside if I no longer had any nicotine intake by cutting out joint smoking.. Does anyone wake up and crave a hit from a bong on most mornings? I love smoking joints, but combustion isn't doing my lungs any favours after years of abuse, nor is all the filth from the tobacco I use in my joints.

I've owned an assortment of pipes and bongs, but after the novelty of playing with a new toy wears off, I'm back to rolling joints before the day is out. I jumped on the vape bandwagon a couple years ago and bought a Magic Flight Launch Box. I figured I would start small and see how it felt. I bought the power adapter too, so I could use it all day at home without burning through the batteries. It turned out to be a waste of money for me. I felt the amount of vapour it produced was minimal, and I found myself sucking on the little stem for 20 minutes at a time, almost every hour. The 'high' didn't seem to last very long, although the cerebral effect was nice.

Now I get that without combustion, certain chemicals aren't released, especially if you're burning joints stuffed with tobacco. I just hoped that the MFLB would pack a little more punch than I felt from it. It was more like a tickle, and at over $150 (with the power supply and better batteries) it seemed a little expensive. I've watched countless reviews on vaporizers, and the general consensus seems to be that the Volcano is a great device, and probably worth its massive price tag. I've been trying to talk myself into buying a Volcano for a long time, but I'm probably a little too weak to splash so much money on something that might be only a little better than the MFLB in terms of how I feel about vaping. No one I know has one, or has even tried one, so I'm finding it hard to make up my mind. Who here uses a Volcano? Do you still regularly smoke joints? Have you ever been a habitual cigarette and/or smoker and given up smoking altogether and now only vaporize? How do you feel about filling and holding a big bag every time you want a hit?

Going back to the MiniVAP, it looks pretty great from the video I watched, but it's even more expensive than the Volcano. Has anyone tried it? Is it better or worse than the Volcano (or any other vaporizer you've used)? And finally, has anyone used the DaVinci Vaporizer? I can't imagine it being any better than the MFLB, although I'm a little curious.

Apologies for the long post.

I also have purchased the MFLB and agree 100% with that statement.

As for the MiniVAP, I've never heard of it and I'm extremely biased towards the Volcano :)

I've been using my Volcano for over 3 years, usually leaving it on all day on the highest setting and I've never had any issues. Maintenance is minimal and it's very simply to use, especially with the "Easy Valve" set.
I have a friend who has two Volcanoes, both of with are going on 6+ years, again no issues. There are reports on forums of people with theirs seeing daily use for over 10 years.

I can make a video on the two different valve systems and how they function, what gets dirty, etc.. if you'd like.

So, having used both, you would say a Volcano is significantly better than the MFLB? Do you still regularly smoke joints?

Sure, a video on your devices would be great. Here's a link to the MiniVAP review I watched.

The MFLB and Volcano shouldn't even be compared to eachother. The volcano is a much better product, producing MUCH thicker vapors the MFLB couldn't even dream of coming close to. I was really disappointed with the MFLB and immediately sold it lol. I have two "VaporCone" pens for portability at the club.

You seem to be looking for a portable option, though. My friend has a "Storz and Bickel Plenty" vaporizer which is a "whip-like" system by the same creators of the volcano. I LOVE that vaporizer but again, cannot compare to the volcano in the thickness of the vapor and is limited to an outlet. I do think the flavor can be better on the Plenty sometimes since the vapor isn't being filled into a bag, therefore touching less surface, but not always. This especially applies more when the bag is getting older. I feel the MiniVAP, based on the video, would probably be in the same scenario, hitting similarly to the Plenty in the sense it would feel whip-like, albeit less dry. I didn't see a temperature control on the MiniVAP--it makes a HUGE difference on the Volcano, especially depending on the user.

My mom's boyfriend, an old-school hippie, swears by joints. He can't even hit my volcano cause it makes him cough too hard. I've noticed cigarette smokers have a hard time holding vapor in. He will bring over 2-3 joints every day. I usually end up vaping afterwards cause I'm not buzzed enough. His bud in my Volcano gets me blown off my ass, though. Damn hippie.

The best thing since using the volcano. I don't wake up in the morning hacking my brains out, coughing up black shit anymore.

Here is a quick video I made, lol:

Here's the bud I vaped in the video, as seen a month prior.

Great vid, man. Much appreciated.

It seemed like you packed the first bowl with a huge amount of bud - what looked like enough for a few of the kind of joints I smoke. How many bags would you get out of the amount you first put in? I found that when I used my MFLB, continuously sipping in vape over a 10 minute period really agitated my throat. Does the volcano have the same effect? You sucked that bag down in record speed, and I didn't hear any coughing.

The bag filled up quickly, and you're right, the vapour looked really nice and thick. I've heard some people say vaping only gives you cerebral highs, so I'm wondering if I stick to growing Indica landraces (Ketama, mostly), do you think I'll get a body stone for relaxing at night if I vape Indicas? I smoke Maui Waui during the day, which keeps me alert and active, but I'm really partial to a good evening Indica body stone, and I'm concerned I won't feel that without combustion (and perhaps unfortunately, without tobacco).

I might take the plunge and buy myself a Volcano for Christmas. I haven't had a tolerance break of more than a day or two in years, so I might suffer and go cold turkey for a week before I buy one to declog my cannabinoid receptors. That might help get used to my new method of THC intake. At the same time, I'll hopefully rid my physical addiction to nicotine because I won't be smoking any joints. Easier said than done...

Peace

p.s. Awesome ambient music.

Yeah I threw quite a bit of bud in there. That will probably fill at least 8 bags, plus or minus depending on the quality of the product put in. One or two bags will get me really baked after not smoking for 8-10 hours but I like to just keep going.

It will definitely make you cough, moreso after you're already stoned and have filled a few bags. Personally, if I leave it on 6.5, I don't cough at all and get a really nice cerebral buzz. I usually crank it up to 9 and get everything, like I said, being a "smokey experience" which will definitely bring the couch-lock
My roommate hit it after not touching pot for a couple months and one sip got him blown, almost immediately. Like in his face it was completely apparent. (teeheet)

I unfortunately can't go more than 24 hours lol.
