microscopes / looking VERY closely at your oil

sooo. we dont really have a thread here with any super high up, super high res macro shots. or a microscope/magnifying glass discussion page.

I bought a 40x microscope for 1$ + free shipping off ebay and was impressed.

ive read that 100x is the optimal amount though... and as always, id like to take it a step of 5 further. so it likd to see 300x, 500x and possibly even 1000x if its not too crazy expensive.

where can a guy find a nice mirco scope locally so I dont have to pay shipping?

otherwise I am looking at something like this.. what do you guys think?

nice and cheap, tester item: http://www.ebay.com/itm/100X-Jewelry-Gem-Handheld-Pocket-LED-Light-Microscope-Loupe-Magnifier-Pen-Zoom-/300898889227?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460ef8ae0b

500x is 25$.. or 800x for 35$ not sure if the quality of this would be any good. not a fan of chinese stuff, especially their USB and cables. ive been through about fourty of those 5 cents + free shipping ones off ebay!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/800x-500X-200x-100X-8-LED-Digital-USB-Microscope-Endoscope-Magnifier-Camera-Cam-/151094103371?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item232de90d4b

or should I be looking for one of these type things? http://www.ebay.com/itm/SELSI-Kids-Microscope-100x-200x-300x-Magnification-in-Original-Wooden-Box-/200958610733?pt=Educational_Toys_US&hash=item2eca110d2d

problem is, that I like the USB part and seeing it on my screen, taking screen shots, and showing you guys. but do the USB ones really work that great and look hat good on the screen, or will I be disappointed?

I would spend probably 100$ on a nice microscope, so thats roughly my budget.

what do you guys think/use?

Hey i just baught myself a Celestron 40,100,400,1000 cost me around 450 with afew glass slide n instruments (the essentials) looking at your material is harder then you think you really need a micron thin slice of your product too go into the 1000X cells youll prolly just see blurred up i would recommend you just get a 160$ 40,100,400 celestron unless u wanna ball with a more sofisticated thang, fuck all that digital shit its B.S you wanna get a eye peice attachment thats a cam you get way better results ill post you a pick of my microscope later today hopefully a year late wont be too late too help you out =P

seems like those are only 60-100x.. which isnt too bad I guess, its a good start. my 40x isnt enough, I think 100 would be real nice. 400 and 1000x might be too close for me... im not a scientist, I dont wanna see the molecules and atoms lol. or maybe I do. hmmm.

id like to see something like 400 and 1000x too though, that would be very cool.

I think 100x would be like you said a good start, and they're cheap maybe 100x would be good enough I'd try it out before spending too much money

This is my Celestron biological microscope the 1000X is not attached becose like i said only masters or like lasers and diamond tipped tools can cut thinly enough for you too actuly be able too zoom and see the object as perfectly flat, plus you need too add oil just for the lense so nothing scratches when it makes contact.

i dont have a camera attachment but you can prolly buy one where ever your going too buy your microscope, but you would be really surprised 40X is really usefull for chekin trichomes, 100x too, i check my bubble hash alot and i tell you the truth the better it is the less there is for you too see unless i had a diamond tipped scalple and the hands of jesus i could cut thin enough too actuly see cellular level. 400X and 1000X are going too require well made sample for you too really enjoy your experience and be amazed too see that witch is hidden behind the machinery of the universe!

hahaha thanks! but im no expert at all i baught this afew days ago and did somme reaserch experimented with it talked too a few ppl read few things,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4RgBZlKlJI

this video gives you abit of an idea about the zoom powers, i was told by the personne who sold me my microscope that at 1000X most the time where talking like police investigator and too get sample that are worth looking at even universities and the shop themselves have really hard time getting somme, let alone be beast enough too make one themselves! so can you fukin imagine at 30million X thats like the building block of life lol, tho that was prolly done with another type of microscope definitly not a biological like mine prolly somme fucking crazy nasa laser microscope

We have a 1000X binocular Zeiss, with camera attachment, but recently purchased a USB camera to try it out. Alas I never got it to work, because all of our computers are 64 bit and the program that came with it was 32 bit.

Moral, make sure the software will work with your computer, before purchasing......................Zeiss binocular microscope-1-1.jpg

wasn't that donated to you?
Also have you looked for a 64-bit version of that program? Possibly the manufacturers website would have software available.

I totally feel like flattening out my shatter...or pure oil out between a couple slides should work. I used an oil-drop tek in college to view stuff with a pretty intense mag...might have just been 1000x though.

Yes, donated to us by Growgeek.

The manufacturer barely spoke English, wasn't able to help and the scope was cheap, so it sits at a friends house, that had a 32 bit computer.

It wouldn't load the software either, but that was likely the computer, as it was almost immediately replaced with a new 64 bit to sort out other issues.

If you dissolve your oil in a little ethanol, you can put a thin film on a glass slide to inspect.

Many of the upper echelon dispensaries, have these scopes hooked into a giant HD screen.

They will put flowers, hash and oils on display for pending purchases, or just for fun.

Fantastic for deciding whether or not to purchase flowers for extractions, having the ability to inspect resin glands on a whole new level.

A good sales ploy! What is more breath taking than a fully frosted nug at 100X?
