I have 8 thermaltake silent cats, 120mm rated at 64 cfm's. So with 4 exuasting that should be about 240 cfms? and 4 for intake. i was thinking a dressor. but im open to other ideas. maby a verticle grow in a wood box with a cardboard box sheath around it.

What does your intuition tell you about this dimension..:

2.5l 2.5w by 3 ft high?

something like this but SOG, i think this cool tube cooling method would be very effiecient. as the fan shoots the heat strait up, and as the heat naturally rises. seems it would be the most effecient way to use the cool tube.

Thats bigger then my cab so your fine in my opinion. The bigger the cab the bigger the grow so ya ....

would 400ws even have a better growth rate and yeild potential than say a 250w in that space ya think?
Would it yes ... but I dont think you could cool it without a cool tube and adequate ventilation. A 250 HPS ( with a cool tube ) would be fine in the cab dimensions you stated above IMO

The biggest problems with small cabs is cooling them adequately.

thanks for the input. Man please tell me you have some pics. And i dont know if i forgot to mention but the cool tube is definate. SO the grow potential and yeild would be stonger?

Below is an old pic it is a little different setup but the only pic pulled out far enough to show scale. Now its setup to maximize the full space ........ of 20"L x 16"W x 30"h

no no thats a 65Watt CFL and a 42 watt cfl. Soon to be a 250 or 150 watt HPS with a home made cool tube. :) If I dont run my vents my cab gets hot fast so with a HPS it would be super hot and fast!

ohhh i thought you were saying that you had 400ws in a cab that was smaller than mine. i got ya. way to rise my hopes ya bastard! jk. well cute cab, id love to see 250ws of hps in there.

Micro- A 400w could be used in an area that size if you had a cooltube hooked up with good fans... I would suggest a little bigger size though for the 400w.. If you check my signature.. My first grow was in a dresser.. that may give you an idea about how that all worked out... and this is my current grow.. I just got a 400w and picked up a cab from Meijer... this is what she looks like in there.. My space is like 20" deep x 38" wide x 38" good grow height (56" total).. This pic is like week r so old

Here is my home made tent... 36"x20"x60"... 600watt HPS w/ cool tube and 170CFM dedicated light fan... temps around 75F... light 10" from top of plants...

change of plan. I finished my blueprints for a 150w verticle cab, alot easier to deal with at a smaller size. I should have it build within the next week here so stay posted. hope to make a few of you shit a little.

My cab is about that size. I've gt a 15o HPS. As soon as I finish this grow I'll start with some White Widow seeds I've got, and I'm going to build a 250w HPS ballast. The 250 puts out like 33,000 lumens, and I can suppliment with side lighting using CFL's, perhaps eventually two 2 ft T5's! Anyway, you want to maximize your space by figuring lumens per sq.ft and watts per sq. ft. Anything over ( I think it's 50 wattts per) is just more light. By that I mean you'll pretty much be exploiting the plant at it's max potential at 50w/sq.ft. When you go over that amount you aren't necessarily doing something bad, but you will REALLY be fighting heat. The extra work you'll put into that, plus ventillation, and the added cost of running a larger light, makes the little benefit you might see negligable. Besides, the FUN of micro growing is squeezing the most out of a small space, being as efficient as possible. Anyone can throw a couple 1000 watters into a room and learn to grow some fat plants, but the challenge of microgrowing is how to grow bud as good or better than those folks, at much less expense. The only give is quantity.

whaaaat.... i dont get it. 600w?
What part of it don't you understand...?...lol....

I have a very good ventilation system... and even with the tent zipped up all the way, I can still bring the temps down to 65F if I want to...

I usually keep it about 75F in there...

I got good ventilation from the get go, and have not had to fight any heat issues at all....

I am running about 19000 lumens/sq ft... almost 2x the sun... so Yeah I am probably wasting some light... but the growth rate, and the vigorousness are well worth it..

I can't wait to start flowering in there....

I grow for my own consumption... and I want the best buds I can produce at the cheapest rate...

Not the cheapest set-up.... the cheapest gram per watt...

I want more buds for each watt (read dollar$) I burn...

If it is cheaper to go buy it, why grow...?

Just my opinion on what works for me....

Cheers...

I agree... with a lot of what you are saying...

Everything in life has a trade off....

My trade off and justification for the 600 is growing buds like these consistently...

But to each their own .. right?!?!

gimme more gimme more. I was gonna use cfl's to flower cause i thought i wouldnt have enough room for a HPS but now I feel like I should use one. AUTO BUMP

Go with what you know bro...

But I will say there's no CFL putting out buds like that...

Not that I have seen anyway...

CFLs generate WAY more heat than my cooltubed 600... I can touch my FACE to the tube... try that with a CFL after 10 hours....
