Micro 2.5G aquaponic DIY experiment

I had some spare fish tank gear laying around and a couple extra clones, so i decided to see if I could get a diy micro aquaponic system going.

I'm using;
A 2.5gallon glass aquarium
A mechanical/bio filter with 80GPH pump
An air pump and 6" airstone
Aquarium rocks/pebbles
Heating pad
Peat moss
Two plastic mesh pots
Two clones, unknown strain

The clones were kept in rockwool cubes and wrapped in peat moss before putting them in the plastic pots. I cut a piece of foam to fit the tank, with cutouts for the filter's waterfall and the two veg pots.

I got everything together and running about 48 hours ago. I added a fish tank stabilizing solution with micro organisms.

I also added a heating pad to get the temp to a constant 76°f. The PH is good but the the nitrate and amonia levels are still a touch high. Once they are at a respectable level I will try and introduce a fish.

Due to the limited size I will probably just have a beta fish and maybe a snail or some shrimp.

Only 48 hours in, so we will see how it goes.
