MH to Fluoro +rep

So I am currently vegging a grow under a 400w MH. The mothers are two months old and have spent the last mo. under the HID. My problem is, they are getting out of hand (i.e. too damned tall). They are currently around 18"-20" tall. What effect will putting them back under the fluoro have on them? Would I be sentencing them to death? or risking the chance of stress? Help a brotha out....

Not death but stress. Usually you want to go from a lwer lumen source to a higher, going the other way will cause stress, lower leaf loss, slow growth, etc

ok if you put them under floro they will slow down in growth and come out skimpy and possible hermie and at that size you may want to flower them because they can tripple the size which they usually do so just put them in 24-36 hrs of darkness and then put them under 12/12 light schedule and the 24-36 hrs of darkness will knock off about 1-2 weeks of flowering time and the plants get a kick start on flowering process bro

i had a beautiful female blackberry under 1000mh light her whole life, i wanted to keep her as a mother but didnt have the room so i gave her to my brother when she was about14 inch tall .he has had her under T5 floro and 150 cfl for over 3 weeks and she is a giant with no signs of stress, granted he has yet to take any clones off of her but she really is doing great .one beautiful big bushy lady..Hope that helps

Can you trim her back? Thats what I do to mine. I flower them when they get to crazy but don't be afraid to trim her back. I would not trim more than 15 or 20% of at one time.
