Methods Before I Start

So I'm doing as much research as I can before I actually start growing.

I saw one method, is this recommended?
Put the seeds in a bowl of water for 24 hours
The next day, assure they do not float any longer.
Put the non-floaters in a wet paper towel for 24 hours
If they've started to germinate, put them in soil.

Some other newbie questions:

Is it typically one seed per pot? Or does this depend on the strain?

Can you start in a pot too small / big? Or can you just have one big enough to never have to transplant?

Any tips on when to feed / water throughout the process to avoid over feeding?

Thanks

seedlings don't need any fertilizer, a few weeks later .25 strength.

YES, one plant per container.

you can wait until the root radical emerges (1-3 days) in water, then plant directly into medium, skip paper towel step.

Hi and welcome.
This place is like cooking. Everyone fights about their way being best when in fact there's many successful ways to do things. Try out the suggestions and see what works for you. So far I've germinated 15 seeds all successfully. I've used the paper towel method and the soil method. Both worked.
Auto flowering plants like to be planted in their final pots, and you can do that with any photo as well, but unless you're in nute rich soil you lose the opportunities to feed your plants nutes to bump up their growth. That's my logic anyway. So you transplant up a few times.
Also, unless you're doing hydro, it was suggested to me to alternate feedings with plain water. So feed, water, feed etc despite what the nute bottles say.
Have fun!

It is better to put a newly popped seed into a small container and pot up as she grows because it is harder to over water to the point of root rot due to lack of oxygen. In a large container if you soaked it then it would be wet for so long it would be more likely to have problems than starting small and working up pots. This is different for autos because they don't like the stress of transplanting.
I, like chef, have used the paper towel method, I like to put them in a zip lock back to keep moist. But there are many ways that all work very well. Soak or not, paper towel or straight into soil, they all do the job provided conditions are not extreme.

GL Mikey, good to see someone doing their homework!
You will find this a very rewarding pastime

hi Mikey, I'm a newbye grower, on his first try, 1 week flower now, just like you I didnt know the best way, so I tried them all to make sure I didn't fail, bowl of water, paper towel, and soil without "pre germination actions", result, all 3 methods worked out perfectly and I ended up with 25 seedlings alive and well :)
I never tried auto stains so I wont try to give advices on that matter.
good luck and happy growing :)
