Metal Halide question

I went to Lowes this afternoon as well as Home Depot. I was at Lowes first and came across the Sylvania 100w and 75w metal halide bulbs. I asked the electrical department about these and they stated these bulbs were OK to put in regular bulb socket fixtures (like clamp lights, only with bigger reflectors). The box of the bulb also did not state anything specific but m90 ballast which they said is the same thing as a regular socket.

I then went to Home Depot for comparison and they have Phillips in both 175, 100 and 75 metal halide all which could screw into a regular bulb socket. The Phillips boxes say DO NOT use these bulbs in any regular light sockets.. the same thing was told to me by their electrical department but only because the box said so anyway, they didn't have any technical specifications as to why it would fit in a regular socket but not be "ok".

Can someone give me any input on this? I wanted to snag two of the 100w metal halide bulbs from Lowes and get clamp style fixtures only with a better and much bigger reflector i've found I can use. I ultimately want to get rid of the T8 lights and use 200watts of metal halide for my mothers (perhaps put the T8's on the left and right of the plants in my new cabinet so they have 4 feet of vertical light on their sides while the Metal Halide pours down from above on them. Thoughts on using these MH bulbs?

So no one has or is using the affordable 100w Metal Halide Sylvania bulbs from Lowes that fit a standard bulb socket/m90 ballast?

IMO i would use the ceramic sockets that are made for those wattage's i haven't seen those MH run on nothing but ceramic i could be wrong though...

Thanks for the input, the clamp lights I do have are ceramic and on the inside of the reflector it states for best use with 250 watt Type A bulb.. Having searched and seen Type A is a normal bulb socket base, I'm curious if these would still work nonetheless.. The wattage is 150 less than what the fixture says is recommended.
