i have the chance of getting 8 metal halide lights complete kits for free
would they be better than floras for vegging ???

yes ano lol there probably stolen but who cares
i`m not sure on the wattage yet but will soon know
cheers for the info bud

i did have a hps but the bulb popped the other day when i was testing wow that 5h1t me up very loud pop lol

make sure you have the correct ballasts, probably the reason for the popping of the bulb (you most likely used a non digital ballast which are bulb type specific).

I did a complete grow under 1 400 watt mh and yeilded a little over 2oz dry.
I got hyped! 2 plants!!!!

New grow already started!
(lol)
but this one 6 girls.
Hope 4 the same results or better !
So yea mh will work. also i have a 1000 hps on the way should b here in the next day or so. (oh yea baby)

cheers for that guys but not its all correct the ballest and bult its an old lighting unit which was AQUIRED from outside a very large building years ago and its been in the shed since
i took it out to see if it worked and it did for about 5 mins in the shed then pop so i presume it was past its use by date

Now then
i have just been and collected them lights from a friend and oh my god there beautiful
they have MH narva nct 1000w bulbs in them i think they might be a tad too powerful for my plants lmao

heres 2 pics of the lights

metal halide get hotter than cfl's and produce more energy. As long as you have room for them I would say go ahead and snatch em. Use a hps for flowering, always prime buds :)

i will have to get some smaller bulbs first i dont need 1000w i think 600 would be better on the lekky bill lol

sorry to ask these questions but ive never used these b4 and it dont say much about MH in the FAQ

your going to need a ballast... not sure how you can power hid bulbs without one..
