I'm going to set up my grow journal here. My first grow with real genetics. Currently trying to root 3 cuttings from bag seed also. Along with that I just received, today, my 400w HPS for flowering. Which my 4 ladies (1 mo. old) are enjoying already!

10 Mental Floss (Chimera / DJ Short) seeds germinated and put in the soil. They are under either 2 x 23w CFL

For vegging I will be replacing the CFL fixture with 1 70w HPS (I was using for flowering prior to my new light). After there is some growth I will add the 2nd 70w HPS.

I am using Miracle Grow organic soil because I don't want to order soil and can not find anyone worth driving to to purchase something better. Mixed with the soil is a bit of Bone Meal for nutes. Water is from the tap and left for 24 hours. Average PH is 6.7.

Hoping for at least 5 of these to be female. Wish me luck!

Alright here are a few photos.

Waiting on my seeds to pop through the soil, a shot of my struggling clones waiting to root, a view of the new 400w HPS, and a shot of my only 4 successful clones in flower. Some of them were topped. Doing decent, some burnt leaves. Hopefully they like the new light tomorrow mid-day. I only got to test it for 3 hours before they had to see darkness.

Vegging - Day 3 - 8/16

A few photos. I got rid of all of my tables and moved everything to the floor. Trying to keep down on the heat. Seems to make a difference having more empty space for the air.

I removed my CFL fixture and put in 1 x 70w HPS for the vegging side. Let's see how this works out.

Total of 7 seeds popped through the soil so far. I am really hoping the other 4 do, too.

I lost 1 cutting, the rest are over watered. I expect to lose them all. I am awful at cloning! (Except, see below)

Flowering - Day 32 / Day 14
2 of my clones have been in flower 32 days.
2 others have been in approx 14 days.
Feeding with molasses and shultz 10-15-10

They are loving the new 400w HPS I put on them a few days ago! Except for a minor incident where I had originally put the lamp too close and burned the top of one of my plants. Everything seems good now though! I need to get 1 larger fan to help move some air, though.

I also need to do some additional minor touch up on the light sealing since this closet is split in 1. I have doubled up black sheets hanging down the center. I simply just lift it up before the lights come on (they come on at the same time in the morning on both sides) to prevent any risk of fire. I have just a few minor spots where there are light leaks

Still only 7 above ground soil, one seems to want to die at this point. Thinking positive on my female / male ratio. Not enough action to take any photos at this point.

The bag seed clones on the flowering side are enjoying the new 400w HPS. Growing very well right now. Low on stash these need to hurry!

Where'd you get your floss seeds from?

I got them from the Dr.

Looks like I am having a 6 out of 11 sprout success. I better get 4+ fems off of this or I'll be quite bummed.

I do plan on cloning when it is time.

I don't know what to do about the light right now. Currently under a 70w HPS. I am thinking of changing to bright white CFL which worked great for my last grow. 4 x 23w may be coming.

Well yesterday was day #18 I guess and I had transplanted the 6 Floss' to bigger pots as the growth is looking great! Short fat leaves and short bush growth so far.

They are now under 2 x 70w HPS for vegging. I will introduce some blue CFL to the mix around the 1 month mark.

I need to buy new batteries / charger then I will take some photos.

Update day 28 from when I had put my Mental Floss seeds in the ground.

Still running just the 2 x 70w HPS but are also receiving 12 hours of light from the 400w HPS on the other side of the grow space. Planning on throwing some blue spectrum in soon but need to figure out the best way to set it up.

So far I am very happy with the results. I wish all 10 survived germination, but these 6 are looking very very nice. They are ranging in height from 3 3/4" to 4 1/2". I will probably veg them until they are 16-24".

The bone meal seems to be a good addition as far as nutes go. I am going to try to get something else but I might just start using a small dose of Shultz 10-15-10 liquid plant food since I already have it for flowering.
