Mega Crop for Coco?

I use tap water that has some naturally occurring Ca Mg in it, so maybe that’s the reason it doesn’t give me trouble.
Hey Michael,
Wanted to get back to you on this point. Been reading a massive thread by a coco grower. Total expert...30 # grows. I ran across a statement that confirms what you said. Tap water with 200 ppm or so works fine with coco...while an RO flush will mess with the buffering. Bada bing...

Nice dude, I try not to talk directly out of my ass, but I forget where I learned what after a while. Good find.

My tap runs between 100-200, seasonally. Fall and winter are higher ppm than spring and summer, typically.
I have an RO machine but right now I only use it for drinking water and breeding soft-water cichlids.

One thing I do that many people neglect is to study my municipal water data and include the mean averages from the tap for common minerals in my nutrient calculations.

I am trying to find out the results from folks using MC with pure coco under LED. How many grams are being used per gallon/the need for extra cal mag.
I'm doing my first coco grow ever along with first time using MC as well, I’ve just been using MC by itself as directed. With amazing results under a single 300w viparspectra LED. They are 3 weeks into flower but I’ll be putting them under a 300w Samsung strip led this week, as viparspectra is no good for flowering plants. Although it’s pretty crazy how great these two girls look for using MC and nothing else under a single 300w cheap led that actually only pulls 136w.

I have 2x bloody skunk autos from sweet seeds. One is in coco in a 2gal pot, the other is in happy frog soil in a 3 gal pot, both mixed about 80/20 with perlite. Both plants are 32-34” tall. The one in soil grew much faster, and flowered a week sooner as well. But the coco plant caught up quick height wise. Not as far into flower though as the soil plant, although it is my first coco grow I don’t think I’ve been feeding her properly as coco plants should be fed, but it turned out fine anyway.

One on left is 2gal coco, right is 3gal soil. Not a great pic. Looking A1 though for growing both of these under a single 300w viparspectra from seed until now I must say.

Coco plant, looking a little on the bright green side, especially compared to the soil plant. But like I stated above, I don’t think I’ve been feeding this coco properly. As in I feed both plants 1gal of nutrient water usually every 2 days or as needed. As that’s fine with soil of course, I recently figured out its better to do small feedings daily? Is this correct? Like 2-3 feedings a day using 16oz of water each feeding?

Just a pic of the cola starting to flower. The buds are a dark purple, almost looks black to the eye. Leaves are already turning a crazy shiny sparkly looking purple!

I do that because I'm mostly a hydro guy. But the report posted online only lists all the wildly esoteric possible contaminants and doesn't even mention Ca or Mg or hardness levels. Don't they know there are clandestine growers out there that need to know that stuff? lol

Got a link to that thread?
It is over at ICM Coco Trees by DJM. He doesn't go into it at length. Just a brief statement. It's over a hundred pages but I left off at page 22 earlier today. Guy is an impressive grower but breaks lots of rules...only he does so with full knowledge of what he's doing.
Cheers,
JD

My report lists those contaminants in one section and other mineral content further down, try going through it again, or look for a supplemental report. I am not aaying it’s there, but it might be!

As far as Coco tree guy, I like him already.

5.8 - 6... -But you are the one having success with it, what ph are you using?

From Any Mega users in coco, would be great to know. Really Appreciate it.

It seems like mag might get locked out around 6, which is why some companies like canna suggest going up to 6.5 for a feeding or two in coco...

If you do not have an EC/TDS meter, go buy one.

Measure your tap water TDS in a gallon jug, add tiny bits of MC until you hit 400ppm of MegaCrop, by subtractig the TDS of your water from the total number, and there’s your baby food. Take note of the amount of MC used by weight or volume or whatever works for you.

Do the same thing but go up to 800ppm of MC, there’s your mature plant food.

You can vary by 200ppm one direction or the other, to suit your plants’ needs.

As I indicated before: You do not and will not need CalMag when using MC, period, I fucking promise. It is literally the only product you need to grow cannabis.

I would recommend making a stock solution by dissolving 500g of MC into a gallon of water, it would save you a ton of work, but I don’t know how well it stays suspended in solution over time.
Your first comment after I posted in this then idle thread was pure vitriol, Dick Measuring Contest.

You are all over the place, You told me I was wrong in mag def in one comment (based on nothing), then tell me it's cal, mag or iron, 'I actually care' in one post and the next back to shit. You set to ignore, but then 'feel bad'. You seem Literally Bipolar, Please do ignore my posts.

I have been growing in peat and coco for 15 years, hit a snag when I changed up my food, I am trying to get around it and asked advice of LEGALCANADA who is the Only person online I have found using mega in coco no calmag. So I am asking advice of people WHO USE MEGA IN COCO.

Yes in theory it should all be working, but is not, hence asking those WITH ACTUAL EXPERIENCE in what I am describing, using Mega in Coco -you know, the Title of the Thread...

Wow, for someone who knows it all after 15 years you sure came running for advise pretty fast and than discredit the ones trying to help you. Clear cut and dry you asked for help cause you couldn't solve it. Trouble shooting is part of the game. Not every suggestion will be the right answer but its a start and someone trying. As for Michael Huntherz i seen some of his stuff and he seems to be a good member. As for you're question I've seen people have perfect plants only using MC and others needing the Cal Mag. Leds on both, so im convinced coco brands are the factor. Maybe the ones that come have been pre rinsed good and the community is not doing it good enough or vise versa. What i have read with MC is if you start seeing Cal Mag, just feed a bit more MC for the Cal Mag already inside and it takes away the issues. Not that i would go higher than 7-8 grams since they reccomend 6 highest, i saw a guy here said he was using up to 17 grams per gallon. Mightve been dwc, but my point is a bit higher than 6 will be fine. Hopefully you find something to take not of and hope you get you're problem solved.

If you're using RO water then you have to add some cal/mag from somewhere.. whether its mixing in tap or calmag the plants wont care but you will need it and it will help buffer the ph.. Also, you have to make sure to water with plenty of runoff if your heavy feeding in coco.. no two ways around it you will lock shit out..

Played with the PH for a few feedings as above and got it moving, with a little epsom added. Just a new food, new experience.

I'm not too proud to ask for help when I need it, or offer any help to anyone who asks.

-Hopefully without automatically accusing one of not reading the product, or being wrong about what the def might be without enough data to doubt.

I am just starting up again after a long hiatus, new space, hope to be posting pics etc in the near future.

Lot's of plants I have been wanting for years and even a classic that popped, 11 year old seeds! -Nice surprise there. Hope to be breeding that one for posterity (mangolian Indica, props to sag).

GL is a great company.

I wonder if any of you are using 630 cmh? Recommend?

-Thanks all for trying to help.

I vary ph to allow uptake of all nutrients, roughly 5.8-6.2. Look at the charts in the link i posted. https://www.growweedeasy.com/ph What are you using to measure ph?

Or ph, or RO water, or?
Well, i guess grower could be lazy but PH is maintainable by grower so i feel you can take that out of the equation if you want. Quality of Coco not so easily. RO water can be fixed by upping the MC. It has enough Cal Mag in it. Simply upping it when Cal Mag shows will correct it.

What @blowincherrypie said :)

I actually just cut the main cola just this morning, trichs looked perfectly where I wanted them at. Couple white hairs but mainly brown, also the sugar leaves were fading so that also indicated me to take it down. Debating on cutting some of the canopy tops that look done, or waiting a few days then just chop it all minus the popcorn at the bottom. What y’all think?
