first time ive noticed my hlg 478watt temps i felt them and though man thats hot i could touch it fine but was like a hps ballast wouldnt wana stay on it long , so i turned it off and then though ive never touched it to compare to, so what temps can they reach while being safe?

my other rooms driver is cool, but it has a fan in the room constantly blowing past on oscilate

(on the actual driver not the led)

don't know myriend, ive herd of t being done b 4. but as to how it worked, i don't know. but you will get an answer soon enough, just wit for everyone to wake n blaze or bake :weed:

max 470 ish so i run it full, how would i rid up a pc fan on it without using another plug or would solar work in there for an 8w fanlol?

It's not really recommended to use full power on the driver consistently.
Usually it's suggested to not go more than 80%.

I'm not driving mine at full, but I still use 1 pc fan to move some air around my LED powersupplies.
Without it they get hot, but not quite so hot you can't touch them,
so I'd guestimate them getting to around 40-50celcius. I got IR gun for checking certain temperatures.

You could hook up the PC-fan to a 5-12v power supply (old phone chargers etc)
5v charger should spin a 12v fan, but speed is considerably slower already.
(same max 80% usage of power supply is suggested)

Driving them too hard and hot will make a hit on lifespan

Drivers tend to run hot so some air movement will help dissipate heat. The type of fan doesn't really matter.
