Meanwell XLG 320 vs HLG320

I'm tryna run 1200-1400 diodes, 72 red, the rest top bin @ 2.8-2.9amps ...
Voltage x current = watts. This means youd be working with voltages of +100V which is unadvisable due to regulations and safety. Look for a voltage below 48V. The voltage depends on your string: lets say 16 whites + 1 red in series is about 2.8x16 + 2= around 47V. Info on voltage of diodes can be found in datasheets.
To figure these things out you need to understand the basics of series/parallel connections in an electrical circuit, its not very hard but kinda too long for here.

I'm sure my electrical engineer knows what's up in terms of the stings and circuits. We are working @ 48v. I'm basically drawing in the sand, so I'm trying to understand the relationship between diodes, arrangement, strings, circuits, VDC, Amps. Even more important I'm tryna figure out what temps are an acceptable range... Heatsink considered.

If you are paying an EE you may wish to consider asking them these things too.

I think people are bit thrown off by the fact you're asking for basic information about components after having a pcb designed.
Most people...I would think get educated about the components and characteristics before design begins.

Don't get me wrong.... learning and trying new things is great, but going at the process in an unorthodox way may cause unneeded stress.

I have had custom pcbs made in the past. Nothing too fancy, just small stuff for the arcade hobby. I know unless you plan to populate the boards by hand or order populated boards in the hundreds if not thousands the cost will be extremely prohibitive.

Thrown off? That definitely was not my intention... I was trying to communicate with my electrical engineer who barely speaks any english and has no experience designing a 3030smd board... And I sure as fuck don't know the nitty gritty of it all... so I never had anything done beforehand. Why am I explaining myself...? I asked some questions regarding the xlg320 vs the HLG320 and I got the answers I was hoping to get. Thanks fellas. I ended up designing the board around the XLG because the cost comes down to $24 per driver at larger quantities and it can dim to 0 etc. I figured the 15-20% watt difference between the HLG doesn't really matter. Cost prohibitive? You would actually be surprised how cost effective it is, compared to buying a fixture off a corporation. When you have prototypes, you can pull investors... even borrow money from the bank.

I am unorthodox, I can't deny. But in the end I tend to get it right. I always appreciate good guidance and for ppl letting me pick their brain. I may be dumb, but I ain't stupid. I think you'd actually be impressed about this board and heatsink design. Let's just put it this way, I think you'd be at it for hours or days with a tweezer trying to place over 1300 diodes per board.

It's funny how people are willing to help you if its the small beans, but as soon as you think big you get shot down... Fuck, I'm just trying to bring the bread as there sure as hell hasn't been much of that the last 7 years. I got busted growing twice in those years... jeeze...
