ME outdoor Qrazy Train

Just thought I'd show a few pics of my outdoor Qrazy train grown in a 10 gallon growbag planted in an old anthill. I'm at around 43º latitude on the coast so we have some cold and wet weather. This pheno of the QT was pretty susceptible to botrytis and it started flowering a bit later than my others( around august 24th). In the 5th week the buds doubled in size and trichs coated everything but the fans. Definitely a heavy yielder. Definitely smell hints of melon in there. saved some clones to run indoors and grow out to their full potential. Got a couple bags of sugar in the freezer to run through the bags, should be some tasty bubble. Thanks for the genes Sub! Planning on running agent orange outdoor next year. :leaf:

Everythings QT, but the last 2 are kandy kush

hey farmer looking good man. I had similar issues with bud rot also. My querkle domi plant was hit hard by the rot. The main colas were the size of 2 liter bottles and very dense all the rot was centered on the stems. The train wreck pheno i had held out against the bud rot for about 2 weeks longer then the querkle domi plant but in the end it also feel to bud rot. None of my turned any color. Originally I had cloned the querkle domi but decided not to run it again. So ill be starting from scrtah again next year. I learned alot this year and hope to improve next year not sure what ill go with but i have 6 months to decide.

nice pics. hope you are able to pull before it gets too cold! good luck
thanks man, i actually had to pull them on the 5th unfortunately, the two nights after it dipped into the mid 20's so it was probably a good call. The bud rot getting to them was ultimately the deciding factor. still some heady shit

Hey Farmer! I'm in Maine also and had some issues with webby mold this year. Been growing half the time over the last 13 years and this is the first Mold I've had, so I'm not too bitter to have lost about 50% of my outdoor crop this year. Still got waaay more back than what I put in! 'Went up to Harry's Harvest in starks and brought with me about 3/4 Lb of lower popcorn bud that was nice and frosty and made BHO right there on the hill. That vector butane is good shit. Got about 8% back. was just over 27g of BHO! That shit will slant you.

~Peace~

Hey Farmer! I am also in Maine and was wondering about our climate ... That was a great call in getting them in on the 5th as that was quite the cold spell that we had during those two nights ... Def some great pics ... Thanks so very much for the info as well as the share !!

Peace and Love

i also experienced large percentage of bud rot on three different phenos of qrazy train. my colas were massive as well. but i was also battling caterpillars, so its hard to say what was the catalyst for the rot. was it the size and density of the buds or primarily the cats? or perhaps a combination. imo it is definitely not resistent to rot and seems like it could take until late october to finish. this strain probably needs to be greenhoused and is possibly an indoor exclusive.

Yeah I cant agree with this at all.
While certain areas have been hard hit this year over all our data indicates that both Chernobyl and Qrazy Train at least resist mold and mildew. If your getting cats then its probably uncovered and thats a no-no with cannabis.
I am indeed sorry that it didn't perform well for you but I completely disagree it dosnt do well outdoors I have seen to many gardens with opposing results

indeed... user error on my part propably a big part of this. but three different phenos rotted a lot in comparison to both the ssh and purple diesel. all plants were given same preventative controls for caterpillars on a regular basis. all plants obviously in same environment. i agree that covering is ideal, and will give it another go next year that way. but when i select outdoor strains i look for those that can handle full season weather without being covered because its not always practical to cover large coop type plant #'s. id like to add that its quite possible that just spraying these big buds with cat control molded them or it might be that my sprays were weak and ineffective. or it could be that simply the evening humidity of 80 percent with 2 litre sized colas was too much. this is some dense ass bud that takes til late october to finish. most of the strains that i grow that take that long are sativas with a less compact structure and more adept @ handling the weather.

definitely not a knock on your work sub. just sharing my experience with this stain, as this is only my 2nd outdoor season and certainly a more experienced outdoor farmer would have given her more justice.

I've definitely seen some beautiful outdoor qrazy train and its definitely a heavy yielder outdoors. My reason for mold was definitely the combination of cold and wet weather we were getting, and she definitely had a few showers on her buds before i covered her up. Fully covered or in a greenhouse would be optimal, but she would definitely perform better in a less hardy zone out in the open. My buddy's crop was fully covered in mold and he had to take them all after 5 or so days of wet weather and cold in the 50's and 40's, my qrazy train was showing very little signs of mold after that week and no mildew. I think if i would've started her a month earlier and put her outside beginning of june, I would've been in better shape. Next year

Hey, this is the first I've heard of covering plants ... you mean like throwing plastic bags over them to act as poncho's? Or full-on greenhouse? Thanks in advance! Every time I learn something useful, I feel like a kid at Christmas!

I prefer a shelter like i made just to keep rain of them. it also allows for adequate airflow to combat mold issues. full-on greenhouses are nice cause they can protect against frost, but unless u have good ventilation,(a way to get electricity to your grow) you're probably gonna have some humidity issues. bags over them will work for for quick protection, but they will also capture alot of moisture in there and i don't like bags or plastic rubbing up against my buds. Its only prudent to cover them once the nights start getting colder and when more than just a day of rain is imminent. Once plants hit their 5th week or so (pending on strain) its seems to become more of an issues because of the density of the buds

I know this is an older post but I notice some people mentioning small yields for outdoors in this climate. I got threw some clones outside and they are all 6'5" with 1.5' colas all over them and they are about 4' wide. I planted them were they would get morning sun to help burn off the dew from the night and threw them in a big hole of 3 cubic feet of compost lightly mixed with the native soil. I have had small plant of this pheno yield pretty well but nothing on this scale. What can I expect from qrazy train outdoors anyways?? I am around where you guy seem to live, any help would be great.
