Me: "Hey son, you wanna grow some weed together?" Him: "Are you serious?"

I'd recommend installing the Lux Light App if you have an Android or iPhone - then use that to see how much light the ladies are getting for next run.

Nice job on the first run - glad to see some family bonding during these times.

Thank you. :bigjoint:
Are cell phones able to make accurate lux measurements?
Should lux even concern me? I thought PPF was the relevant metric.

The newer phones are more than capable of reading accurate lux measurements.

Lux just gives you a rough idea. Better a rough idea, than no idea.

good news / bad news

Good news: I'm sampling my own product with my sweetie tonight. My son tried to dry it fast in a warming drawer on 125F for 20 minutes. Twice. So, I left it in a paper bag for 4 days. Dry yet still a bit sticky.

Bad news: Bugs are back. Preying on my solo cup grow. I put a few drops of neem oil in the last inch of feed water, added yellow sticky traps and added a desk fan aimed at the soil in the solo.

Well it works. I got baked. It's heady. I was grinnin'.
Smell: bit fresh, bit planty but only very mildly.
Taste: bit fresh. I took a big hit and coughed.
Pros: its sticky. it burned even from end to end. it works, my head was tingly and I felt heavy and happy. :bigjoint::eyesmoke:
Cons: not especially cheesy. I get the smell from time to time but I may be numb to it because I've been smelling it for months.
I hope the drying and curing brings out more terps.

It will. A proper dry and a long cure will give you beautiful bud you will remember forever....or at least until the marijuana affects your memory.

Whole plant hung upside down in a vented tub with a little fan and a hygrometer.
9 days. 49-59% RH. 21-25C (70-77F).
Hay smell is totally gone. Bud smells nice, not stinky strong tho.
Very little flex before stems snapped but didn't snap off when bent.
Buds are dry and brittle.
Hopefully the humidity packs can remedy.
Trimmed weight exactly 28g (1oz)

Branches hung upside down in a garbage bag lined cardboard box with a vented lid, a little fan and NO hygrometer.
10 days. 21-25C (70-77F).
Hay smell is totally gone. Bud smells nice, not stinky, but stronger than plant #3.
More flex before stems folded and cracked but didn't snap off when bent.
Buds are harder and much less brittle than #3.
Gonna skip the humidity packs for now.
Trimmed weight exactly 59g (2.1oz),
more than twice that of #3.

Smoke report!
I smoked some from the sticky plant. It was better than expected considering that it ground up finer than I would've preferred because its too dry. RH in the jar says 49% Pretty smooth, smelled great, there was a taste that I can't quite describe, it wasn't unpleasant tho, didn't cough, did get high, happy, heady, tingly, lidded eyes, feeling pretty relaxed now (an hour later).
If the bovidas haven't helped the humidity by morning, instead of burping I'm gonna lay the buds out for a bit.

Like my makeshift dry chamber?

Not much root.

And I definitely believe the cloth that holds the pellet restricts tap root growth. Maybe there is a specific brand name that is ok but I'm cutting them off from now on until they're gone.

28g & 26g respectively. From plant #2, which was the one that foxtailed.
Final dry weight totals
Plant 1. 59g / 2.1oz
Plant 2. 54g / 1.9oz
Plant 3. 28g / 1.0oz
==================
141g / 5.0oz

I'm happy with that number for my first ever harvest! Can't wait to have a taste of plant 2 later! Its much frostier than the first two with less red hair and amber coloring.

great job man! If you have a little more patience try out some photoperiod plants. You may get a male here and there but in my experience photo's give me much more potent herb. There are good autos out there, but IMO i'd rather have a good photo strain I find and be able to clone it out for later if its special. Great journal man and glad to see you are reaping the rewards!
