Matching Drivers and COBs

So I wasn't sure where to post this question. I am building some 200w panels with CXB3070's and HLG185 1400ma drivers. I bought the Alpine 64 heatsinks because they were under $10 each and I needed 20!. However, the face of the heatsink gives me plenty of room to fit the entire COB but not the entire COB holder. Is that going to be a huge issue? Only the edges of the holder hang off the heatsink.

Just make sure the holder is turned so the two dimples on the bottom are contacting the heatsink.

Hey guys, I ordered (10) CXB3590 's 36v 3500k to cover my 4x4 area. Next I need to order the heat sinks and drivers. Any suggestions on the configuration is greatly appreciated.
I am thinking to have 2 drivers power 10 cob's. It would be two light bars. Each bar will have 5 cxb3590's. With each bar at 42 " it may not be enough heat sink to keep the cobs cool.
(2) HLG-185H-1050 Drivers
(2) 42" x 5.86" Heatsinks

why would you not simply buy heat sinks the length you need? Just curious.

I am going with Meanwell because it sounds like quality is pretty important since you are powering cobs which are not cheap. I am in the process of ordering once I get some feedback to my question. It will definitely be meanwell as I plan to use a dimmer on my light bars.

Well I went b/w heatsinkusa and the Alpine Arctic 64(and 11) cpu heatsinks for a week or two. I just needed to pull the trigger on something and I ended up on the Arctics. It was too easy to buy the actively cooled heatsinks 8$ each. They are rated to cool 75w and I am going to be driving my CXB's at 50watts and below so it works. But honestly I think it was a "catch a tiger by the toe" kind of thing.

i'm doing 32 with A/C64's got a new batch of drill bits just now from the Hardware store
the holder fits the cooler & yes it does hang but the cob is on there with some slight room

Nice to hear what the thought process was on your purchase. I am leaning towards 2 or 3 bars just for a uniformity look. How will you attach all your heat sinks together?

Most people go for aluminium angle for the frame

I thought i was going buck wild with 20...you got 32 comin in? how big a space are you using them in?I am just going to use 1x1 aluminum angle and screw it to the heat sinks. I have 2.5'x2.5' and 3'x3' tents that I am going to light with these 200 watt lights. the 3x3 will probably get another light added for a booster during flower. I'm thinking about converting my Mars hydro light into a cob fixture for the flower boost in the 3x3.

they everyone, I got a 350 Solar Spec that uses 6 of the new CXA cobs and it is keeping up with the HPS but not as large of coverage.
I want to build something using the best cree’s, are the 303 lumens per watt the ways to go? I’m not sure exactly what CHIP to is, I’m not sure what driver or how many I would need for 500-1000 watts draw, then am really confused there are no or hardly any capacitors, resisters, its like Heatsink, led, driver, ground and go....I would also like my system to be one that I can change the lights out.
Can someone please point me in the right direction, yes, I have tried the net and many searches but have yet to see (for example, something simple that explains the PSU (Driver), how many combs of the 303 Lummens per watt can I do and if its wire that way, I want to make sure I can slip in a lower wattage bulb with no problems or is that a problem? I would think going over= a problem, under, not so much as long as its not to much overload, but I don’t want overload, I want it 100%.
This has been quite a few months or lurking, researching, a few LEDS, a 100 watt HPS with LEDS, nice, but know without a doubt a 1K watt LED is going not crucify the HPS, especially if the new 303 CREE is full spectrum, although some are claiming whites the way to go, but that is full spectrum correct?!
Thank you - this saved my life, I will explain someday, but the HPS works well too, so I need a HPS LED KILLER, maybe a 800 watt with 303 lumens would kill it, on parer it would knock out HPS. And for veg, would you uses mostly blue and white? Will upload some pix.

@SupraSPL When you say "..ran HLG-185s at full power (200w).." what do you mean by that? Is it about how many cob's you're running per driver?

Yes, if you don't use most of the voltage, you will draw less than full power. voltage of the COB times the amperage of the driver times how many COBs.
Hey there..i just bought a Hdlg 185h-1400a driver for my Little tent... 50 x 70 cm..
Also have some vero29 4k. 3 x
I m just asking myself if 3 veros Are too much for that Space..Shall i go just with 2 of them? Does it still work with the 185h ?
The Installation and cable stuff would also be easier with 2...
What Do the experts recommend?
