So is what you are saying is the larger wattage units are not as efficient? Or simply that you can get better coverage with more, multiple, small units?
You can get a better coverage area using multiple 126W units, vs a 318W unit, in terms of watts per square foot. The 318W unit certainly packs more watts into a square foot, but a lot of people are more concerned about coverage area, which is why there are different units to allow flexibility for your individual grow. If you wanted super-high power setup over a large area, you would use multiple 318W's, if you wanted a sufficient setup for a large area, but a bit more economical (both in watts and equipment cost) I'd use multiple 126W units ;)

I am only talking 1-2' tall plants max, meaning around 9 or so in such a sized area. So the area would have to be covered fully, unlike a singe hid bulb hanging over. Even though the HID gives areas that are not fully lit as well. A full LED array above that area should blow away those few plants at that short height. Do you agree?
So you want to do 9 plants in a 24" x 24" space? As the plants won't be very tall, you will have excellent penetration from top to bottom. Using a "sheet" of LED's over those plants would make them literally grow like you've never seen before. It's hard to express just how different the plants grow under LED... You really have to see it with your own eye to get it.

Here's another testimonial I just received: "I took some cuttings from my tomato and basil plants and I put them under one of your 63 watt lights, while I'm waiting for the other seeds to germinate and low and behold, the clones took off like I've never seen before. Within two weeks the basil plants have 5 inch roots and the tomato's have three inch roots, from the bottom of the net cup. This amount of root growth is unheard of and unprecedented. WOW!!!!!!!! I am thrilled to have found you and your lighting systems."

Ed received his final light last week, and to my knowledge, was building a room for the grow test between our LED and the 1000W HPS. Anyhow, I sent an email to them asking when the test would begin, and should hear back by Monday. Ed will be posting the results himself, to more than one website. Once his results are up, I will be linking to them ;)

As far as my plants go, my care-taker is not as good of a grower as me :( When I left to go to Mexico, everything was beautiful! Then I come back and it's time for damage control... Anyhow, they dealt with a little bit of stress, but not too much. Most have fully recovered now and I've taken out most of the bad leaves.

cant wait for the links

Me Either! Then again, I can't wait till half of the people who already have units start posting their results lol. Hopefully Ed gets started this week. I'll give him a call tomorrow to check in ;)

LEDGirl,

I'm still working on puttin' up the cash to get a couple of your lights. I just wanted to share that I hope your lights can pull off some shit. Side by Side comparison when I get your lights is going to be exciting if you think I can double my yeild over the HPS I just finished with. I need to clean out the space and bug bomb/clean then I'll be making my final decision on the lights.

Here's what they'll have to top...

While you can still achieve very large colas with LED, your buds may not be as large as the ones you posted. The buds under LED will be far more dense though, so what really matters here is the weight. I'm in no way saying your buds won't be as large with our lights (as I forgot what you wanted to test with), I'm just pointing out that with LED it's more about weight than it is size.

Those buds looked nice though! Pictures like that make me smile. In my own garden I have buds that size or larger currently forming under LED. Anyhow, what watt LED were you planning on running against how many watts HID, in what size an area?

600wHPS vs 2x 316w LED

In identical but seperate 4x4 tents. Same genetic clones (same strain as this last one from that picture). I am truely excited to see if LED's can really hold up. I had too hard of a time over the summer keeping this cool (fall and winter are here now) and I would love to have something to use in the summers from now on. Hell, I'll switch'em all if they are really that good.

We will soon find out.

I'll retract my previous (cautious) statement then lol. Your talking about 40W LED per square foot in your tent. The 318W units pack more punch than the 126's, and you should have no problem destroying your previous results, and the results of your 600W HPS. I look forward to seeing the monsters you grow under LED :blsmoke:

Thanks :)

I'm really excited for other people to begin posting their results. It's one thing for me to show people what they can do, but it means so much more when it comes from independent users. I've never wanted people to solely trust my word on things (although it's kinda nice lol), I'd rather get the independent's to supply grow tests, so that the lights can speak for the themselves. Anyhow, no hard feelings, and I'm glad you're sticking around to watch

Sorry I meant to ask you if in your own growing experience with you lights if you found that a couple of weeks of more flowering time was needed to ripen up the buds as has been found with other led lights? also you mention having just switched your set up over to your led's...you must have some previous results to be so confident about your lights?...do you have anything like grams /watt or kwh...here's a link to a 400w hps vs a 90w ufo....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CtROw3uiVg
now I'm not comparing your light to the ufo but do you have any kind of numbers like they show at the end? as you can see the optics and length of time are not very good until you notice the grams/kwh...

Hello LEDGIRL, I am a beginner on a budget! I really really want to use LED's. I am going for 12 plants; what kinds of LED panels do you suggest I get?

I haven't noticed any extended flowering time with these LED's, if anything the process has sped up. As far as my own garden, I switched many weeks ago to LED from HID, as I had finally landed on a production model light. Prior to that were many test models and many test grows that led me to develop the current Penetrator lights. According to one customer so far, he yielded a lot more than a QP using the 63W Penetrator and outperformed his 150W HPS. I'm still waiting on his exact dry weight to get sent to me. My friend cut a plant a bit early and it's been drying now for several days. I tried calling today, but no response. I'll give them a call again tomorrow and see if they've weighed it yet, but I estimate it just above 6 oz's. I think her Strawberry Cough plant will yield upwards of 8 oz's, but we'll have to wait another week or so till it's cut.

How tall will your plants be when you put them into bloom? Do you top them? What size of a canopy area will all 12 plants occupy? Let me know the answers and I'll let you know what would work best in your area ;)
