Many questions on outdoor growing

First of all i am new to this site. I do not expect anyone to answer all of my questions, i know there are many, but i am in need of info, and would like anyones input, and i appreciate anyone who takes the time to help me out. I will also post a picture of my plants tommarow.

To start off this is my first grow. I have ten plants coming along about 3-4 weeks old. They were all bag seeds which were potent sativas from around my area. I kept them under 24 hours of light indoors for about 2 weeks. I built them a little plastic house and put them outside in the sun, because i had to get them out of the house (legal issues). The house sits in the middle of a field and gets direct sun all day, so basicly 12/12. There all anywhere from 3-5 inches tall and in the second stage, i have them all in cups that will fit them until i can put em in the ground. I used MG moisture control soil and perlite.(3/4soil-1/4perlite). I realize i should have kept them on 24-0 for a while instead of 12/12.

ok, now the questions

First off, i look at a lot of other grows and they are huge compared to mine at 4 weeks. Ive fed them MG all purpose plant food a couple days ago, so they should be getting enough nutrients between that and the MG soil. What am i doing wrong? I do not believe its my soil, although i am aware many despise MG.

What is the minimum size i want them to be at to plant in the ground?
Is there anything i can do to toughen them up and boost there growth a bit so i can put them out asap?
Will they still need to be tended to if they are on the sides of a stream or swamp?
Also, about how much direct sunlight do they need per day and still be healthy?
I live in the middle of the woods in NE america with tons of wildlife, are there any animals i should take out or keep a watchful eye for, or anyway to keep them away?
Is there anything i want to look for when choosing a spot to plant in?
And last, i plan on trimming/clipping my plants to give a big yeild, any techniques or things i should know on how to do so?
Thanks. :blsmoke:

Boy ok,
first off being in a more northern climate you need to plant sooner rather than later, get those plants 6-8 inches and throw them in.
as far as boosting them up, I would if possible add a good soil, (not mg) and put them in there. I also would place some fertilizer plugs around your babies.
as far as light, well since you can't control the sun, put them where they will get as much direct light as possible while still being safe/stealth
As far as clipping triming, I wouldn't do it in your situation. The reason why is your plants are gonna have a hard enough time to finish as it is and their growth will be stunted once they move outside for a couple weeks. you are also growing sativas in a climate they aren't designed for and they are gonna need more time than you can give them to finish properly as it is. topping, fiming, lsting will only delay your plants and you cant' afford dealys. As far as streams, don't go to close, big storms can take a little stream into a raging river and destroy your babies... give em at least 20=30 feet. As far as pests, research spider mites and what to do to stop them, they will be your biggest concern. I also lost a crop to deer, so when you visit your plants piss around them or put up a fence. Anyways good luck

1. The plants will only grow so big in the cups because the roots become bound. The roots are going to be as deep as the plant is tall, and as wide as the leaf canopy. I started plants in 16 oz cups, then transplanted to 5 gallon buckets and moved outside when they were 2 weeks old, 6" tall.

2. If you are using miracle grow that already has fertilizer, like it says it feeds for 3 months or whatever, you probably don't need to give more nutrients for a while. Maybe not as long as the bag says, but not for a while at least.

3. yeah, the will need to be tended.

4. sunlight, some say 3 hours, some 4,5, 6, 7...... the more the better.

5. deer, rabbits, will eat them, and of course bugs, beetles, spider mites,

6. Trimming, or clipping will not necessarily increase the yield, people mostly do that to limit plants height. There are many different topping techniques, check out Uncle Bud on here.

The plants in the pictures are 6 weeks old. I started in cups and moved to the buckets when they were two weeks old, and about 6" tall.
