Males show their sex 3 weeks before the females?

I started with 12/12 just over 3 weeks ago. Just found 1 of my 10 plants showing sex of being a male. None of the others show any signs yet of being a male. Wouldn't that be awesome if the others were all girls! So if males show their sex 3 weeks before females, then it takes 6 weeks before females show their sex from time lights are switched to 12/12?

My plants are the opposite, the female shows first and the males don't.

It should only take 2-3 weeks into 12/12 to get a definitive answer.

No.....it varies with strain and many other variables........your other plants will shortly start to show preflowers........

as anonymouse said mate it's not always the case i got some heavy duty fruity on the go from th seeds and the females started showing pre flowers after 4 wks veg and when flipped to 12/12 all the females showed sex first within about 10days and then the males started to show after about 14-16days some of the males took an extra day or 2 but by day 21 everything had been sexed and flowers were forming on the females and they were well underway i'm not 100% but i'd imagine that within 21 days they should all be sorted and the females flowering? at the rate your describing it will be 9wks flower time before your plants are even sexed if i were you i'd start looking for light leaks and make sure your lights are on 12/12 failing that mate i'd do some homework on your strain and maybe think about swapping it from my understanding females should start forming flowers after about 2wks i've only had a couple of grows but this has been the case with them so far.

yes it does vary, BUT.

the only difinitive sign of a female is the white hairs COMING OUT OF the budsites.

USUALLY, by the time a definitive sign is shown on the female, the OBVIOUS color and shape of the male balls are visible.

Here is my trick. Look for STRIPES on the male 'balls'. If you see ANY striping, that is DEFINITELY a male preflower.

I dont know why you directed this at me????Of course a white hair protruding from a calyx is a definite way to know it's a female.....my point was that there is no actual time period that will guarantee how long it takes to see sex.......
