Male pollinating female help !

Hey guys,

I have two plants in a small grow tent at the moment and 1 of the plants is in full pre flower and female, however the other plant has only just started showing signs of pre flower and i am unsure if it is male or female yet. My question is if the 2nd plant does end up being male how long until i have to start worrying about the male pollinating the female? or does this only really start happening in the flower cycle.
Probably a stupid question but better safe than sorry !!!

any help would be great
thanks

Just remove it as soon as your sure it's male and you'll be fine pretty easy to tell before you run into trouble just keep a close eye ...good luck

as soon as you see any seeds on plant get rid of it
Ok, seeds will only appear after the flower is pollenated...this is what the OP is trying to avoid.

OP, do some research on the web for what to look for in determining sex of a plant. Once you know what to look for...look for it. Once you see it and are sure you have a boy...mist it and the grow area down to stop pollen from floating. Put a trash bag over him, remove him from the grow area, hack him down and then take a shower before re-entering your grow area.

I hope you got a gurlie though! Good Luck!!

BTW...growing feminized genetics greatly increases your chance of growing females. I personally don't buy the 'hype' about higher percentage of hermies with femm'd seeds. I have never ever grown a male or hermie from my feminized growz

You'll have plenty of time. If they're the same strain planted at the same time the likely hood of the second plant being female is good. Male plants generally show first.

Thank, a lot of good info, i do know how to tell male/female, i was just worried that if it does turn male it would contaminate the female. and if there was any danger at the start of pre flower. Fingers still crossed. These are just seed i got from a friend, not sure the genetics of them, i have just ordered THC Bomb and LCD seeds which should come next week, both which are feminized, very good to hear about fem seeds no going hermie, i have been ready a lot of "hype" about all that :P

Your not looking for seeds correct???? Your just trying to distinguish male from female as early as possible ....basically trying to sex your plants ??

Correct, i have 2 plants atm, 1 in which is female( started showing about a 5 days ago) the other plant has only just hit the pre flower stage in the last 24hrs but has fully shown sex yet, i was just worried if it did turn male it would somehow start turning to the other male or pollinate it somehow, just need to make sure that i had plently of time to remove it if it showed male pre flower before anything happened to the female

Gotch ya that's what I thought ...ya just keep an eye you'll see the male in plenty of time if you stay diligent and it won't have time to hurt anything ....good luck

Yeah not to mention it takes quite some time for the male to actually produce pollen and drop it. You'll see balls. Then they'll start to multiply rapidly. I've seen the term grapes, balls. They do kinda look like a cluster of grapes if they go for long enough. On a side note out of the regular seeds I've grown males are always the first to show. I'm not saying it's a set in stone thing but they seem to start pushing off balls slightly faster than females. Like outdoors they generally start a week beforehand for me. I've sexed a few plants with a 2 week veg then flip and males were a good week ahead. Same with 12/12 from seed.
From what I've read you've got a window of around 10 days before they start dropping pollen after they show. I've kept one around after a week and you can damn well tell then.

Yeah that's what i thought, i didn't think i be in much danger at such an early stage of pre flower but wanted to make sure, last thing i'd want to do is contaminate the female. I'll be getting rid of it as soon as its shown 100%, don't want to take any changes lol that is if it does turn male, looking more female for what i can tell atm but still again, very early
