Male or female or hermie?

If these pictures aren't good enough I can't take any clearer ones. I took like 10 pictures and this was the clearest.

I'm almost at 4 weeks in flowering with this one plant and still can't figure out what it is. All the other plants flowered within the first 2 weeks. This won't doesn't seem like it will ever flower.

Unless you are seeing some balls somewhere, I'm pretty sure its a girl. You might wanna check to see if there might be a light leak near the plant- if all else fails isolate it in dark for 36 hours and that should help push it to flower.

Going from the spacing of the nodes, the plant is mature. We need a closer picture of the stipule, or preflower area in order to tell the gender

Is there a trick with the camera? I was told once before cause I had the same issue with another plant - to put a piece of paper behind the plant. I did it this time and it still doesn't bring in the preflowers clear. If I bring the camera closer, it can't focus.

Guess I'll just keep waiting for hairs or balls. Theres lots of little things growing in between the nodes but they don't look like bananas and they don't like like female flowers either. This plant is so behind schedule with its flowering I might just chop it down. But its lower branches are so full, I'm just worried the delay might mean its a hermie. It shouldn't take 4 weeks of 12/12 for it to flower I don't understand what the plants deal is. Almost like it doesn't wanna go into flowering stage.

Your camera if it's worth half a toke should have a setting on it called macro, you can change it with a little button that actually looks like a flower. The autofocus setting doesn't work so hot real close up. Select the macro setting, get close up, then use the zoom to get even closer. You should be able to get better pics than you got unless you are using a cell phone.

Agreed, macro is the word to look for

when it starts to flower you will know...if you cant tell then its too early.after the first set of hairs appear they grow more and more everyday..same thing with the male balls.if you are ever unsure on the sex..then its too early...theres no doubt when its flowering.till you see hairs or balls you cant be sure...could always be new growth.just give it some time and it will tell.i used to hate waiting for a plant to sex...now i buy only fem seeds...and ive had 100% success with fem seeds...not one male or hermie out of all the seeds ive gotten.since i dont do any breeding i dont need reg seeds....seems pointless to waste the time and money on growing a plant for a month or two for it to turn male

Taking that long to show gender is not a good thing. Chances are this is either a poor performing strain, or one of the phenos in your strain is weak. When I've had a situation like you, the particular plant that was late showing, ended up being a poor producer. That being said, usually when it takes this long to show, it is female.

your right about all but one thing...if it takes longer to show sex dont mean its a female...its true that males will show sex before females...but as it comes to hermies...they have the longest hangtime...it can sometimes take a hermie 1-2 months on 12/12 to start showing sex.but like ya said...the longer it takes to sex and even forcing it to sex dont work..its not going to be a good producer.if after 3 weeks it dont show..you have a bad strain/seed or its not getting the right light spectrum

Make sure there aren't any light leaks! That will greatly affect your plants decision of choosing sex

I really don't know what to do. The plant has looked noticeably unhealthy most of its life. And like half its bottom leaves look burned for whatever reason. Its not nute burn cause its in organic soil (unless the organic fertilizer is causing it), and the ph is tested every week as long as being at a stable temperature (rarely it fluctuates at all except for night obviously when it can go down to 65-70).

The plant gets treated EXACTLY the same as my female and looks like shit. But the female is BEAUTIFUL. She has much sharper teeth on her leaves, her veins are more pronounced, and her leaves are finally starting to darken. She was topped 1 week before flowering and is doing great right now. I keep 6 cfls on her and 6 on the male (5-2700k and 1-6500k for each).

The sexless plant I DID make a huge mistake with (get to it in a second). But the condition of its leaves looked like that ever since it was a baby. Also, I water my plants once every 3 days and the soil is always dry before I water again. So I don't think either one of the plants ever really got overwatered. But I DID top the plant I'm having problems with 1 week AFTER I started flowering. I know that was terribly stupid, but its my first grow and at the time I was telling myself "these things are weeds, they're suppose to be hardy, and the plants getting too big too quick".

But the female has just always looked much healthier, and has always got the same attention, minus bad timing with the topping. Could the topping after flowering have fucked the plant up permanently?
And my main question is, if topping is whats causing it not to sex right, does that mean the plant might be genetically stronger than you guys think is? Cause that would mean its not genetics that caused it, but me... right? I'm wondering what the chances are if this plant turns hermie, that I can cut the male parts off and actually get decent smoke from it?

I only have 2 plants now, I was expecting more than 1 female from my three. But I did clone the female twice its just gonna take another 45 days of vegging to get them up to par in size.
I'm in a bit of a tight situation because if I kill this plant thats half of my harvest. And it was really starting to branch out and show decent colas. But even since it was young its leaves have always looked like utter shit.

If I cut the sexless plant, can I still get a decent yield from the female alone? If I can get at least a half oz from her I'd cut the other plant now. I can harvest the female in like 6 more weeks, and by the time I run out of her stock I'm hoping her 2 clones will be ready to harvest.
I was just really looking forward to getting at least an oz on my first grow.

I don't know what to do. Looking at the plants general condition logically tells me its inferior, but what does "inferior" mean? Is it likely it'll produce low grade bud? What are the chances of a stressed hermie producing mid grades? (I know the bag weed it came from was great smoke)

I know its a personal choice but its hard being my first grow. I'm gonna grow out the clones whether its there or not, but its like 2 months of effort for **2** plants now right down the drain. A higher than average electric bill for nothing. And I'm just gonna have that 1 female now for my first harvest which sucks.

What would YOU guys do? I'm serious.

I also found the macro button on my camera, and tried to take closer pictures. I took a pic of the female next to the unsexed plant so you can see the difference. But its still hard to see in the picture because you can see some burnt tips on the female. But when you look close at the leaves the females are very smooth and veiny, very rigid and strong. The other plants leaves all looks like they're dying, and I never did anything to stress it besides the topping issue 1 week into flowering.

I could really use some help. Its gonna suck to kill another plant (first was male) but it would suck more to harvest it and not get high off it, when that space could have been used for the clones which are from an obviously healthy female.

How long has your female been flowering, 4 weeks? I don't see any buds. What type of nutes are you using & are you sure you don't have any light leaks?

Think about it like this; if you haven't taken clones off the sexless one, you won't have to deal with it again. Topping during flowering would affect the plant, but I doubt it would put it in some kind of limbo, I don't think it is anything you have done, it is just the genetics of that plant. One other thing to consider is how much money would you save by killing it? Granted, you will save a little money on nutes, but your fixture will still be pumping out the same wattage despite the number of plants underneath it. We know you won't be able to harvest both plants at the same time, BUT that doesn't mean the potency will be any less.
In the end, I can't tell you not to chop it, but I know how you feel, and I don't think anyone would get mad at ya for getting rid of a problem child.

Yeh they aren't huge yet you just can't see them in the pic. Theres like 12-16 hairs on most her top colas right now, she also just got 2 more lights a week ago so I'm hoping it'll give her buds a nice little boost.
And as far as light leaks the grow house is airsealed with CO2 inside, so once the lights go off its pitch black for 12 hours. For nutes I gave the female miracle grow 2 times at half strength (cause shes already in soil with organic ferts) and the sexless plant got miracle grow just one time like a week before flowering (about 5 weeks ago). I didn't wanna give it anymore nutes untill I figured out what was causing the burned leaves, but I still haven't figured it out and was more concerned about its sex before giving it more nutes. I was expecting it to flower within the first 2 weeks, at which point I would have gave it some, but its about 32 days now and its still not showing any sex.

Yeh I hadn't really thought about it like that. When I look at the bad condition of the fan leaves, and how long they've been like that, it makes me wonder how much light energy they're even pulling in for flowers to develop. It also makes me wonder how that will effect the quality of buds if they do develop. So I am starting to think its just an inferior plant. Its always been a problem, and I already trashed its clones last week realizing they were worthless. I've just been holding off waiting for some hairs to start showing.

At this point its on day 32 of flowering, and its making me wonder how long in general it would take it to finish being in the shape it is. I mean the colas are in decent shape, but like half the plants fan leaves are just shit. I think at this point I'm just gonna kill it. It will be real nice to have those 2 clones grow up like their mother, and knowing what I know now I'll also be able to take care of them better. I think at this point I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and kill it. Thanks for the advice!

If your using Miracle grow soil theres already slow release nutrients and thats not a good think because you can't control how much nutrients you give it and for the unsexed plant keep on growing it, it would be interesting to see how it turns out male or female or hermi

I just noticed in your avatar picture, there is tinfoil on the walls of your grow room. I'm thinking the sick one is being burned by a reflection on the tinfoil as tinfoil concentrates it's reflectivity to certain spots that become too much for plants and cause burns. I recommend getting rid of the tinfoil and replacing it with Mylar 2mm reflective sheets as mylar is a much better reflector and doesn't cause burns like tinfoil
